Not even finished blowing stuff up in the desert IRL and I'm already bored of it. I want a good Vietnam FPS with a GOOD multiplayer component.

...Battlefield Vietnam?

A good Vietnam game. I want to raze villages and play head-soccer.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Far Cry 2 world map kind of thing (except without the obvious flaws such as constant respawning of outposts etc etc) which is a deployment area for your solider in Vietnam. Follow a campaign in this area. Maybe the whole story, maybe you move onto another area to finish the game.

Then multiplayer on par with a Battlefield title. At least 32 players on chunks of tactical, jungle landscape. How hard is that, I would even go so far as to say Dunia engine would be perfect for this provided they work the kinks out and actually release an SDK.

Expanding on the single player, I'd say have an open battlefield-world, but with events moving around you. Areas shifting in power, dangerous traps, destroying areas with bombing stay that way for a long time. THEN when you beat that you could unlock a more sandbox mode of the campaign/world.

I can dream. With this idea it seems to me it would be hard to screw up, but they would.

Vietnam is still a touchy subject, that might be why there aren't a lot of games focussing on it.

Even so, Soduka, that game idea sounds good. Is there a way of proposing game ideas to companies without having them just pinch it if it's good?

Could have an incredible single player AI campaign, and if the multiplayer was done like an MMO (persistent world, log in, find people, do missions, log out (sleep)) the multiplayer side would have much potential also. Would be nice to have a FPS where multiplayer wasn't just 'deathmatch/capture the flag/some variant thereof'.

I can understand it being a touchy subject, but if they're going to make games about wars that aren't even finished yet I think it's only appropriate to make Vietnam video games as well.

Yeah, how come that other Afghanistan war game got all kinds of negative press and was dropped by its publisher and everything and NO ONE cares that Modern Warfare 2 had Afghanistan levels and now this game is set there entirely?

I think its because MW2's singleplayer is fictional. Where as that afgan tour game was supposed to be historically accurate.

I suppose this is true, still, it mirror's the present conflict to a very similar degree.
