It looks like I wasn't wearing my glasses when I looked at it, but now I notice some banding and waves on my analog monitor (maybe electrical noise or interferences), so I have got a Dell (made by Bizlink) DP -> DVI adapter and it's working perfectly. I had some flickering problems until I moved it to a different USB port on my motherboard.

The main thing to remeber when using these is to ensure you use it with a high quality VGA cable with heavy shileding, ie each wire is shielded, then the entire cable has a shield.
With a lower spec cable I would get some slightly blury text, with a heavily shielded cable such as that by VDC this cleared it up.
Although since getting my DP>DVI working I stick with that now.

For both questions, the answer is yes. Though I'm unsure if that exact adapter will work, almost all miniDP->VGA adapters I've seen work perfectly.

Hey guys, I'm just about to start my Eyefinity setup but looking for a dongle that will provide me with a decent and reliable picture. Since reading through this thread and some others it seems DP > VGA seems the way to go for a reliable performance. The question I'm asking is will this specific adapter do the job for me? http://www.cables4all.co.uk/mini-displayport-male-mini-dp-to-vga-female-adapter-771-p.asp

I have a 5970 and 3 24" Samsung SM 2443BW's. I'm asking since £19 seems a bit too cheap to eliminate all of the problems users seem to be having with Eyefinity stability.

Are you sure the DisplayPort connector on the one you link to is compatible with your video card? If so, it should be fine.

However, for the 'full-size' DisplayPort like I have on my HD 5770, the one I'm linking to is not much more in cost and should work just fine:

Since I have a 5970 the adapter I need has to have a Mini-DP output, since the one you linked has been mentioned a few times and is probably more reliable, could I just get a DP to Mini-DP converter or would that just cause me problems.

If he's going to use a DP -> VGA adapter it does not have to be active. The one I'm using is a passive adapter and is working splendidly.

If you're using the one you linked to a couple of posts up, then it's active. On the other hand, for all I know it might be fully possible to run 3 monitor Eyefinity with a passive DP-VGA adapter.
