win 7 4098x768?

Post by dinmaster »

i just finished installing windows 7 and a lot of problems with the new powerdesk, so i got the older beta and finally got everything mostly working except the right resolution, i want to run it on 4098x768 because the current 4080x768 scaling is wrong, because there is space around the monitors past what i see on the monitors. when i switch it to that resolution it seems to put it on two monitors and stretches it thin for some reason, i just upgraded from vista 64bit and im running nvidia 181,71 drivers, win 7 built 7600.

any fixes to this problem?

Why don't you run at 4320x900 at 60Hz? That is 3x1440x900 (3x16:10), and the images would stretch to the right aspect on your screen. 1366 or 1360 x768 is a 16:9 ratio. That isn't the right aspect for your monitors. 3x1440x900 is also a physically larger resolution, allowing for more HUD information in something like an MMO or RPG.

when i change the resolution it makes my middle screen go black and the left and right monitors show the resolutions, i got no idea why its doing that.

i put in 5040x1050 and it does the same thing.

i tried that resolution with the same results, after changing it around to different resolutions, those resolutions still show on 2 monitors and not 3 but now are a line a few pixels high on both screens. its weird

You might want to do a total uninstall/ reinstall. You (anyone) should be able to obtain 3840x1024 with a 19" displays and up.,

I've managed to get 190.38 working at 5040x1050 in Win 7 RTM. I've used the newest TH2G firmware and PowerDesk. I initially set 4320x900 and used that, then tried 5040x1050 and it finally locked in. I've successfully used 5040x1050 in Eve Online so far.

You have a 16:10 monitor. I don't know why you're trying to use a 16:9 resolution on it.

I would be working to get the 16:10 resolutions working. 3x1440x900 works at 60Hz, so I'm not sure the issue.

thats the thing, i cant see 16:10 x 3 monitor resolutions on the matrox th2g menu's which is weird.

i can now see the resolutions in the wizard but when it applies it, gives "windows has encountered an error" and doesn't apply it.

dinmaster....

I hope I'm not giving you any false hope or sending you down a troublsome path, but I have 3 x223w's that I've been running at 5040x1050 for many months. I've had it working in Vista and XP.

Vista was a bit of a pain, requiring the CVT reduced blank trick. XP was a breeze, and what I'm using currently.

I'm here right now because I just loaded Win 7, and wanted to see what driver I should be trying first.

tear....

i need you help sir, ive been dying to get the resolution to work at that. win 7 drivers for nvidia really start at 171 but im currently using the newest ones 190.38 with 2.05 pdesk

when i try the cvt reduced blank trick, right after clicking test it gives me a failed popup.. this resolution is not supported by your display. and it doesnt even try. what power desk you using/ nvidia driver you had in vista/ etc etc thanks.

I used 2.05 pdesk and a 178.x driver for Vista. I don't know exactly which one, unfortunately, because I ditched the partition to load Win 7. I can tell you it was a royal PITA to get working successfully. But I did get it working. It ran iRacing ok and I tested L4D successfully as well.

I ended up just using XP because it was effortless to get 182.5 drivers working, which offered much better performance for iRacing, which is the sole reason for my pc's existance.

With Xp, I installed the OS, installed 182.5 drivers, installed pdesk w/ all the widescreen modes, and it just worked.

Sadly, I loaded Win 7 today, pulled my hair out for hours trying many drivers and powerdesk versions, beta and whql, with no success. Same boat as you.

But I assure you x223w's work at 5040x1050x57hz

HI guys,

Looks like I join you with the issue upgraded from a working XP 5040x1050 setup to Windows 7 RTM and now can't get 5040x1050...

I have set a support request to Matrox asking for any new dev powerdesk versions, but no idea if they will reply.

Nvidia 200 series GTX 260
Dell E228 22" Display's (working in XP)

2.05 Powerdesk
190.38 Drivers

Tried custom single at 57hz - worked.
Tried Custom triple with the same error as failed to display without it trying.

Powerdesk of course errors using the wizard (my first try).

Also tried 185.58 drivers with no success and about to try the other popular one here.

Okay tried:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-ForceWare-190.56-Win-7-%7C-Vista-(64-bit)-download-2339.html190.56 Beta drivers

Now running at 5040x1050.

190.56 drivers with Windows 7 (32 bit)

Post by kevintrisha »

Hi Cadal,

Can you tell me what your procedure was when using the 190.56 drivers at 5040x1050? I am trying to get these driver to work for me. Did Aero work as well? I was not sure if you were using the latest Powerdesk or not.

Thanks,

Kevin
