I have the screen connected now through my dvi to hdmi cable that i used to connect it to the tv before. And I am not liking the results somehow. The yellows seems a little green tinted and there seems to be this grainy filter on when you look closely.

And my tv episodes and whatnot on the computer looks horrible. And on my lcd tv they look wonderfull. :(

Well higher model numbers generally indicate their production came AFTER the previous one, even if released at the same time. It could just be that they found out they could get a better supply of the 23.6" panels, so released them at the same time. Putting the same model number on the two would have been a mistake IMO. You don't want a customer complaining about getting a smaller size in the same model number.

The e-IPS models are slowly trickling onto the market, namely via Dell's 22" 2209WA so far, but it's 1680x1050. It's already being touted as the best 22" display made though, and sells at TN prices. I wasn't using Apple's 23" e-IPS so much as a suggestion but rather a heads up on the other size/res that's coming soon in that tech, and that many other manufacturers are interested in using the LG panel it has. That should mean good pricing when they become available.

I'll be building my new rig by spring of 2010 when the Nvidia DX11 GPUs are available. Hopefully by then there will be a lot more e-IPS displays to choose from, preferably in larger 16:9 sizes. In fact I'd love to see a 26" 2048x1152 e-IPS, but I'm not counting on it. As long as you don't go too expensive meantime and buy a reputable brand with good resale value though (which BenQ definitely is), you're OK.

Seems it was just me who wasn't used to how things look on screens, went to my friends place who has s-ips and he got the same problems if you can call them that. I am just used to my LCD tv I guess, my guess it has a lot of different filters you can't turn off (because I turned ll I can find off) that makes the picture look better when watching movies etc.

i would guess the tv is set maybe to warm settings (looks more red than it "should") and the screen is set maybe to cold settings (looks more blue than it "should") so with the 2 extremes you are getting the worst :P

also... try it with DVI- DVI instead of DVI- HDMI

TVs and monitors are always best custom tuned, vs using presets. The extreme high contrast ratios and such the presets use are merely for much less than ideal lighting conditions. They're mainly marketing gimmicks though.

If you simply take a little time to setup your viewing room properly, they're not needed at all. All they do is extremely lower color quality in instances with good lighting.

I am kind of thinking of selling it and buying another screen. Anyone of you got a good recommendation on a 22" or 24"? (rather 24)

I am starting to hate the screen. Playing my ps3 through the hdmi, the games are all native 720p and when i run that the games get really blurry and jaggy, the scaling on the screen is terrible :(

And games like L4D with noise, you are supposed to be able to see the noise, but it shouldn't be like war of the ants when you haven't set up a tv channel. :/

Tards at BenQ didn't put any DVI cable with the screen, just VGA. :/
And when I went to buy a DVI no place had shorter then 1.8meters. Which is why I am still on my DVI to HDMI cable (which is of very good quality).

I doubt DVI-DVI vs DVI-HDMI would make any difference. Both carry HD video signals. I use DVI-HDMI on my PC to connect to my Samsung 26" CRT HDTV and the picture is excellent.

On alternatives, in 22" the Dell 2209WA e-IPS is pretty much the best one now, but it's 1680x1050. It's priced in the TN range though. If you're playing primarily on PS3 though, I'm pretty sure you're limited to 1280x720 anyway and you didn't say you were watching movies on it.

i just wondered if using the DVI input would open up some more calibration settings over the HDMI input (like setting sRGB etc etc, K temp)

I am honestly considering that screen, but if I am to buy a screen in this day of age I feel like I want 1080p at least.

To Gilly, I bought a DVI to DVI cable, didn't help at all. But through both DVI to HDMI and straight DVD has this mode called sRPG that you can choose. (same menu that has the movie mode, photo mode etc) But everything seems washed out when I try sRPG.
