Hello...
I´m here to say thanks to BooTx for the Widescreen solution
X-Wing: Alliance - [Hack]
But, I have something to add for this solution...

Some hardware configs don´t let you select screen resolution 1152x864 in the in-game menu.

SO...
Open the Config.cfg file. (The file is in the base XWA directory and You can open it with a text editor, like notepad)
Find the lines "screenres1 #" and "screenres2 #" in the the simbol "#" you find the actual screen resolution (0,1,2, or 4)

0 - 640x480
1 - 800x600
2 - 1024x768
3 - 1152x864
4 - 1280x1024

And then change the "#" for a "3", to select 1152x864 resolution.
It should look like this:

....
....
screenres1 3
....
....
....
screenres2 3
....
....

Save and close, now you can play in the Hex selected screen resolution representing 1152x864.
Don´t go to the in-game graphics options because the res change by itself and have to edit Config.cfg again.

Another weird thing, if I change The hex codes representing 800x600 (20 03 and 58 02) I can select 800x600 res in game for change to my selected resolution (like 1680x1050) but the fonts and the HUD, Radar, etc... becomes to small and the view point pulls back like if I Zoomed out, so I don´t recomend change the hex codes representing 800x600.

I think the editing Config.cfg file thing, should be in the main instructions guide.
A Mod can make a reply to that post, please.
Thanks again and I hope I help somebody with this...
CYA.

That's interesting; the FOV is greater in 1680x1050 than 1440x900, even though it's the same aspect ratio. I guess the FOV increases with the resolution.

Anyone know if it supports TH, or possibly a Faux TH (1920x480)?

Wow... this brings back memories.

Now, if only I could get it to run on XP. Not tried on Vista. Might give that a shot...

Are the 1680x1050 and 1440x900 shots both based on 1152x864 setting? If so, I have a hypothesis - if your custom vertical resolution is greater than the selected vertical resolution, it will be zoomed out. If it's smaller, it will be zoomed in. The greater the difference, the more zoomed it will be.

Therefore, if this hypothesis is correct, the appropriate solution would involve selecting the resolution that best matches your actual vertical resolution.

1280x720, 1280x768, and 1280x800 users should pick 1024x768.

1440x900 users should use 1152x864.

1680x1050 users should use 1280x1024.

Does the game have any 1600x1200 mode? If so, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 users should use that. Otherwise, they should use 1280x1024.

X-Wing Alliance, at least on my old system, supported all the way up to 2048x1536. :) I remember this because I had a right bitch of a time getting XWA to work again when I accidentally set 2048x1536 on my 1600x1200 capable CRT monitor...
