TF2 update

Post by The_cranky_hermit »

Basically, the loadout screen now resembles something from a MMORPG.

There's also a new "inventory screen":

Note the "delete" option here. According to the update notes, doing this removes the item permanently, and you can never get it back.

WHY IN THE BLUE **** WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT?

Also, there's a "reset stats" option. Which as soon as I'm confident won't have any permanent repercussions (like making you lose items), I'll take immediately.

Yah i noticed this too. Why on earth would you delete something? Just , um, don't use it.

I didn't fully understand it really. Why a backpack? I don't geddit at all. What was wrong with having them per class? I'm guessing that in the future new weapons will be multi-class .....

Aye, just noticed this. Very strange... I wonder what's to come ?

Possibly a limited backpack storage space, forcing you to delete items before you can get new ones ?

I'd hate that. And I wouldn't be alone.

Amen to that.

I really wish they would allow an option to play version 1.00 TF2 with all of the engine updates, and none of the new "class packs" that so screwed up the balancing...

I rather liked the class packs so far. Except the scout update. The scout's new items are crap. Sandman was decent... for the week or so before they nerfed it. I think the scout update was really a spy update in disguise (insta-backstabs and weapon disguises FTW).

The sandman I still think is crap...stuns don't belong anywhere near the game.

The quasi-spy update was great except now it seems I get sidestabbed a million times more :(

Game files even describe these as having levels, naming weapons in the style of "Level 4 Medigun of X ÜberCharge rate."

DO NOT WANT.

20x better than...
The same documents also list other loadout slots beyond primary, secondary and melee weapons, including an open slot for grenades, PDAs and buildings.
imo.

But valve is smart (sometimes ;)) so I'm sure it will be just fine.

Grenades might be OK, and they might also be disastrous. It all depends on how carefully they avoid the traits that everyone hated about them in TFC. But Diablo style random item drops would suck. At least with grenades, you know what you're up against.

The problem with grenades is spamming. I loathe it in CoD4/WaW that is why I always play on servers with FF enabled. Stops grenade spamming, just so bad when you spawn and die ad infinitum 'cos a group is nade spamming away.

I haven't logged into to steam for weeks thanks to finals (finally over...now I'm scared to!

I think the "delete" key is there because they plan on having so many unlockables you have to pick and choose which ones you keep.

They just released another update, folks! This one... makes the game crash after the Valve logo.

The reset stats button only resets the stats. You do not lose achievements or items, but it WILL reset any progress you have made toward unearned achievements. I used it as soon as the update was finished, so this is reliable first hand knowledge.

Valve, kindly grow up. Your joke on April 4th was an amusing bit of sophomoric humor. Upgrading the joke to an official update is just plain wrong. This is not Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Dont worry about it, in a few months we can go raid a boss to get you a replacement for it, a bigger hunting knife perhaps.

I think it's amusing... it is a certain aspect of snipers, you know. Made me chuckle...

I'm really disappointed. I thought that maybe the Sniper update didn't even exist and it was only going to be a Spy update which would have been awesome, but seemingly not.

I think all the new Sniper unlockables are pretty awful.

Bah :(
