Does anybody know of a place to get a BIOS that has the fix for the Displayport blinking, but at the same time maintains the ability to overclock/adjust voltage that your MSI card comes with originally?

Flash your bios with the ATI bios that Dave posted here:

You'll need ATI Flash and a bootable USB drive.

Change the .bin file from this bios to a simple name, and a rom format. I named mine ati.rom

IMPORTANT ASUS INFO:

If you are using an Asus video card, they have locked their bios. You have an extra command to type in first to unlock the bios.

Perform in this order:

atiflash -s 0 backup.rom
atiflash -unlockrom 0
atiflash -f -p 0 ati.rom





I am using an ASUS 5870 right now, the Dell Bizlink DP-DVI adapter, and have been gaming in glorious eyefinity now for a week straight after unlocking the rom and flashing the bios and had zero, I repeat ZERO problems with the displayport monitor. Follow these steps and you too can prevent forest fire.




Edit: I misread the first post. Unfortunately this ATI bios doesn't maintain the overclocking and voltage tweak settings that have been found on MSI and ASUS cards, however, it does let you have eyefinity blink-free. Take your pick.

Well I've found that MSI released their version of the ATI BIOS, MSI.HD5870.1024.091112, but with ATI Overdrive you're still limited to 900Mhz/1300Mhz. Using MSI Afterburner in default mode you're limited to 900Mhz/1300Mhz/no voltage adjustment. If you edit MSI Afterburner's configuration file you can enable 'unofficial overclocking mode', and suddenly set whatever clocks/voltages you want - BUT you completely lose ATI Powerplay. MSI Afterburner isn't even capable of letting you manually set 400Mhz either, so there's no way to fake a 2D clock either.

edit: Found out I can edit the MSI profile configuration file manually, and make it think it's enabling a profile when it isn't. It then seems to go back to default ATI behavior. Which means, I can hotkey CTRL+ALT+1 to turn Afterburner mode on and have any clock speed I want, then CTRL+ALT+2 to make it behave exactly as it would with default ATI settings of 850/1200 in 3D and 400/1200 when not in 3D.

Since it's ASUS, you probably still need to follow my directions and unlock the rom, just use this bios instead of the 5870 bios.

Just reporting back in on a successful flash of an Asus 5850 based on the info provided in this thread. Haven't had a chance to do much 3D gaming, but the desktop has been solid for a few days now with zero strange activity (so far).
