Freespace 2 widescreen?

Post by lycantrophic »

Hello, I have a problem with Freespace 2. I cant put my monitor to 4:3 aspect ratio, it is 16:10 and 1440x900, and the game stretches when I play. I searched, but there doesn't seem to be any solution to make this widescreen. I can play it as 4:3, any suggestions?

What video card, monitor, and display connection do you have?

nVidia + DVI is very easy, jsut change the aspect options in your video drvers' control panel.

If you can, I highly recommend using DVI rather than VGA.

If fixed aspect ratio scaling (accessible from the Change Flat Panel Scaling tab in the new CP) is broken in Forceware, then try this reg patch.

It was broken in a XP driver (was a v161.xx I think) released several months ago that with I tried with my 7900GS and that patch fixed it.

oh sure the reg fix works, probably why nvidia considers 'broken scale options' to be a non-issue and they haven't bothered to fix em in like 10 driver revisions.

thing is, that reg fix needs to be reapplied constantly ...
