Until now, the games have taken place in a World War II setting, but Modern Warfare brings the gameplay forward to the 21st Century with realistic weapons, armour and tactics.
Players take on the roll of Sgt Jackson of the US Marines and the ludicrously named "Soap MacTavish" of the British SAS. Alternating between these two characters, you set out to foil a nuclear plot by Russian ultra nationalist "Imran Zakhaev", after a Middle-Eastern country's president is executed.
I'm downloading the CoD4 demo as I type this, but it will take a while - at least two hours. If no one else confirms 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 support by then, I'll test it myself.
Ok, I just got the demo. The game is not playable on my system, but 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 are supported.
As a side note, it seems the auto-aspect function caps at 16:9, so by the time I get around to upgrading my system, I probably won't be playing this game in Ben-Hur mode.
Just to help someone else so they don't have to figure this out.. I have a 3 monitor rig with nVidia Surround at 5760x1080.
I did get this fixed using WideScreen Fixer. There was no CoD4 in the list... I had to just select the CoD:MW. Not the CoD4:MW version. And then I selected the Steam Single Player version in the options. Press the hotkeys and bingo.
