We like Portal.
A lot of people who find FPSs boring are liking Portal. I'm glad I sprung for the Orange Box though, because I'm liking Team Fortress 2 more than I thought I would.
Well I was mainly talking about those whom normally play just adventure type games and not shooters. I have spoken to a few in game stores and it's common that they don't even like games that have difficult jumping puzzles, preferring a more cerebral experience. One guy for instance didn't even like the jumps you have to do in Myst Uru, which are quite easy really.
Anyways, glad you're all enjoying it and I certainly hope they continue this Portal into a long series with longer gameplay. I'd also like to see them temper the challenges a bit so the time and least steps ones are more on par with the difficulty of the least portal challenges. Other than that it's a great game.
I thought I was doing OK at the challenges until I tried all the time and step ones. I've gotten a couple silvers on the time ones and a silver and bronze on the step ones so far along with all gold on portals. I think I'm approaching 60% completion on challenges now. Some have said they made gold on every one and only one of them was extremely hard, can't imagine that at this point.
One of my biggest thrills so far was in getting the Long Jump (330 ft) achievement. I used the landing near the end in the big room with all the turrets and catwalks up high to make a portal, then jump through one below to get onto the catwalk without going via the normal way. Then I made another portal below that and man was I zinging up high. The jump from that catwalk is so high up you can hear the wind rushing by loudly as you descend. Even still it took a few times looping through before the Long Jump confirmation pop-up appeared.
