From a lead programmer:
"The game will render in full 16:9 aspect ratio, with no letterboxing unless your resolution is not true 16:9."
"You will see more in widescreen. We use a different projection matrix; there is no squashing or stretching of the image involved."
I assumed the game would do WS properly.... but this was reassuring to read.
PS - i assuemd this has been covered here but a "bioshock" search turned up nothing useful.

Sounds like it will run with black bars on a 16:10 monitor like Condemned... oh well.

Whats so bad about that? you get the full 16:9 screen with only a little letterboxing. Sounds good to me.

BioShock is carrying the Games for Windows brand so strictly speaking it is supposed to have full support for both 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios. You should not have to suffer black bars from using a 16:9 aspect ratio on a 16:10 monitor. At least that's what the Games for Windows technical requirements state.

If the game is designed in such a way that 16:9 is the only way you can play it.. well then thats what they will have to do.
But I'm sure in the end it will have 16:10 ratio support.

I dunno, i don;'t really mind the barred 16:9 image, al-la Condemned...
i played it for a level or two before i even noticed. It'd rather have that then slight stretch, like in GTA:SA
