Movies on 2 24" Widescreens?

Hi guys I have an great idea but I don't really know how it will look like. If I would buy a second 2407WFP how will movies like lotr look on it (black bars). In my "dreams" its amazing. :lol:

I thought about it because I don't want a big tv so.

Some pics would be fabulous. :D

For the price you could get a nice 24-32 inch multi-function HDTV/PC monitor

Viewsonic, sceptre etc

I'd go for a westinghouse 32" they are about $500.

However you would have an odd resolution.

2.35:1 Widescreen movies like the LOTR series have black bars on the picture itself. They won't magically disappear just by displaying them on a canvas wider than 16:9, such as two 24"ers side-by-side. You'd need software that can retroactively cut off the black bars. As far as I know, only VLC can do this, and the image quality from VLC is not ideal.

How big would the black bars be?

On a single 16:10 monitor, the player would add some black bars to the top and bottom of the original 16:9 picture, and it would look something like this:

On a single 16:9 monitor, the player would display the original picture with the original black bars intact. It would look something like this:

On two 16:10 monitors side-by-side, unless you did some voodoo magic to remove the black bars that are already part of the picture, it would take the original 16:9 picture, center it, and add black bars to the left and right, and you'd get a blind spot in the middle where the monitors' bezels meet. It would look something like this:

Actually, playing it with something like VLC you've got the ability to pretty much customize and crop any part of the video you watch. It's just a matter of digging through the advanced settings. I use VLC and my th2g setup and it works quite well with really wide format movies. I've also used 2 projectors at 2048x768 in widescreen projection using the th2g.

But as has been said bezels will be annoying with 2 LCDs. 2 projectors if they have good keystone settings on the otherhand might be very cool for you.

@ Ghimpi - or anyone else who watches movies with Th2go:

...so you actually use all 3 screens to watch a movie by 'zooming in' with VLC until the top and bottom of the picture reach the edge of the screens?

and since TH2go is 3.75:1 (or 4:1) and the movie is 2.35:1, you have about half of each sidescreen being black, right?

and what is your opinion about the bezels while watching movies?

i am still not sure whether to get 3x19" or one big widescreen... :?:
