Contact DICE to fix Battlefield 2 lack of WS support

Post by skipclarke »

DICE, Sierra, EB should give Valve a call. HL2 WS options control is the standard to be followed. Why the hell is this so hard to understand??

Well, after HL, every game developer spent years ripping off Valve. Maybe they can do it again in more than game design...

With or without widescreen, it's a must purchase for FPS fans.

For now i'm simply going to play with fixed aspect ratio scaling. The game looks sooo much better that way.

OK got my 2405FPW the other day. I pretty much play on BF2. I set BF2 to 1600x1200 and fired it up.
Game looks great and the entire screen is filled. For some reason I assumed there would be black edges on the screen at this size.
I am VERY happy I bought this monitor!!

In trying to set the game to 1900x1200 I get nothing. The game just begins to start then its right to the desktop. I'm setting the size with the icon shortcut trick.

You need to set 1920x1200 not 1900. It works perfectly fine for me.

The next BF 2 patch is due out tomorrow. No mention of a widescreen fix, but it may yet be in there.

I just mailed this off to [email protected]:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I purchased Battlefield 2 the day it was released, and have been playing it ever since – it’s an awesome game!

However, I recently purchased a Dell 2405FPW 24â€Â

There is a new patch out today and after I applied it I found no change that helps widescreen users ... :(

Well that changelog was pretty long, maybe now they can focus on less important things like a simple ratio aspect cvar. Are they (or was it just players) in the mindset of "its cheating, cause you can see more"? Cause then I also cheat cause I have a 7800GTX and someone else may have a GeForce3.

Dice could also just easily allow letterboxed widescreen resolutions for people who 4:3 displays.

Yeah ... that sounds like a good solution ... :D

4x3 users could always start up a forum looking for a way to remove the letterboxing ....

Will do but there will still be the problem of part of the game screen missing, correct?
