Witcher 2 Enhanced - Steam Version Eyefinity?

Post by Kirota »

Just bought the steam version because I saw the fix in Flawless widescreen.

I enable the fix after running Flawless as an admin, but the game only runs on my middle screen. No eyefinity.

I tried the Ctrl + Alt + Z, but that didnt enable it either.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks

So, I'm finally going to buy this game. Which version should I get so that I can play on my Eyefinity rig? Or is there no fix now that the Enhanced Edition is out?

Here is a quote for that

Here is a quote for that fix:

The Witcher 2 only supports surround for NVIDIA - this fix enables surround support for AMD video cards. Attempting to use this fix on NVIDIA cards may result in flickering.

People may wish to use this to remove the black bars on NVIDIA, however without access to NVIDIA hardware it's difficult to test properly :)

If you experience issues with excessive blurring you may need to disable it.

So no eyefinity support, not even with a fix.

Yes, I understand that the game alone doesn't support AMD Eyefinity. However, with Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer that all changes. I'm wondering which version of the game (GOG or Steam or retail copy) should I buy so that the community based solutions will work.

Widescreen Fixer is touted to work with v3.2 of the game but I don't know which source that applies to and this post (Witcher 2 Forum) is saying that it's not working for him at all.

Last I checked ( 2 minutes

Last I checked ( 2 minutes ago) the plugin was still working perfect with the Steam version of the game. both for nVidia and Eyefinity.
Gog or other versions are not supported anymore... since I only have the Steam version.

Be sure to try and enable the fix more than once for it to work... default is numpad *. Apparently it doesnt work from the 1st try all the time.

there really isn't a need for the Enhanced Edition, unless you want all the extra goodies from the physical version. buying the original and entering the serial key through GOG.com not only grants you a free upgrade to the Enhanced Edition, but also becomes a DRM-free copy that can be shared to multiple computers. in my opinion, since the Enhanced Edition is still like $30-$40, you're better off getting the original for like $20 if you don't care about the lack of Steam achievements and getting a DRM-free conversion instead.

Thanks Helifax, I'll grab the Steam version then. Hopefully they don't keep updating it and breaking your fix. I'm running 3840x800 so hopefully I don't run into too many problems with my non-standard Eyefinity resolution.

I did not know that. Was convinced it would only work with surround, oh well, glad to see the author corrected me.

Yeah--I can not get the Witcher 2 Enhanced version to do 5760x1080. With the latest version and latest Flawless Widescreen, it won't auto-detect the version. When I change to steam (manual), it hooks but the game continues to run 1920x1080 in the center. At times I see a little loading dial spin on the far right of the first monitor, but that's it. Otherwise no eyefinity.

Huge bummer! Should have bought the non-enhanced version (but it was on sale for $11.99 yesterday!)

That's a bummer. Purchased my copy new at release (GOG? version)and it auto-updated to enhanced anyway, but that's not the issue. Finally got back around to it and now it's not playable. I installed it again a few weeks ago when I noticed it was in listed in Flawless, and I assumed it would be OK. Back to the shelf with you, problematic PITA. Maybe I'll pick it up again if ... na .. never will. Friggin box set, too.

I ended up buying it on Origin for $7.50 a couple of weeks ago. I'm running a 680 SLI system now. The game updated itself to version 3.1 and runs perfectly in nVidia 3D Surround with no need for plugins/fixes of any type. Runs awesome. Apparently nVidia helped out with the Surround coding for the game and that's why it works natively on nVidia hardware but not in AMD Eyefinity.

The game developers have always said they'd be open to help from AMD to get Eyefinity working natively but have received nothing. nVidia driver team ftw. :rockout:

I recently purchased this and it does not work in Eyefinity. I have tried both Flawless and Widescreen FIxer but they do not work. Any help is appreciated. I am running the latest Steam version.

This is really a crap response from that team. *WE* offered to help them, and they declined. You can get basic multi-monitor support by simply using the available Windows res and then fixing the FOV on the vertical. Use the NVIDIA or AMD SDKs for HUD placement and such, but bloody hell, all you've got to do is let the game "run free" and you can decent support out of the box.

Case in point, their decision to use only the NVIDIA SDK for > 16:9 means that the game won't run properly on my 21:9 panel, on either NVIDIA or AMD cards. How's that fair?

I did get Witcher 2 to run on the 21:9. Wanna guess how? I am running the 3x1 NV Surround + the 21:9 monitor as the 4th "accessory" display. If they are all hooked up, the NV SDK will kick in and offer all the Surround resolutions as aspect ratios. I can pick the 3x 3:4 aspect ratio (3x 4:3 in portrait) for the game, but run it on the 21:9 monitor. The 9:4 res produces an aspect of 2.25:1, which is close to the 21:9 aspect of 2.33:1.

So, I can now run the Witcher on my 21:9 at a decent frame rate on my GTX 670, at decent GFX settings - but only because I paid for a 3x1 monitor setup to trick the game into offering the res options. It gives me res options that don't even fit my monitor configuration, but I can co-opt one for my single 21:9.

I'm sorry, but this is crap. It detects three monitors on an NV card and magically makes all these resolutions appear. How about taking all that time to simply read my Windows resolution and code a vertical FOV?

I agree, it is pretty BS that it doesn't work in Eyefinity but is perfect in nVidia Surround. I never would have thought that they could be that different.

It looks each time the widescreen fixer fixes the Witcher 2 for amd widescreen gamers the developers go out of their way to break eyefinity support and only let nvidia's surround work. Any fix around the corner?

Hello, I have a Dell U2913WM.
I've tried all combinations with WSfixer, to no avail.

Would appreciate that if someone finds a fix, share it with others right here.

Thanks

I just tested it with 21:9. (on a single screen on my laptop).

I selected AMD version, set to custom, 21 /9 aspect ration and the resolution to my width of my screen.
In the witcher 2 configuration be sure you select your resolution and 16/9 AR.

Start the game and enable the fix (It is possible it might not be enabled the 1st time) so press the magic key multiple times:)

Hope this helps:)
