I have a Samsung BX2450 in between a pair of Samsung 2233SW. In desktop only, the middle monitor is not filled. Blackspace either side....about an inch... Not that big a deal, but is there a cure?
I bought a 120Hz Benq XL2420T but it wouldn't play ball with my two Samsungs - only worked at 60Hz, and in Battlefield3 sidescreens respawned about five seconds before the Benq. Found this a bit disconcerting, so I've got the Benq on my work PC, and leaving the three Samsungs on the Gamer PC.
What's the difference betweeen 3x1L and 3x1P? I didn't get that.
LA Noire 1.3 - can't get it to run widescreen at all. Activating the fixer with -windowed in the Steam launcher just puts it on the left monitor. I guess there is no cure. I had no luck with Google.
That's me and surround right now... :)

The 3 monitors must share
The 3 monitors must share common resolution, frequency and sync polarity to work with nvidia surround. so your benq has to run at 60hz to match the other 2 monitors.
3x1L is all 3 monitors side by side as you would normally use a monitor. 3x1p is all 3 side by side but each monitor turned 90 degrees.
this explains it better:

ps, do we have a guide about portrait, landscape here?
