I changed/added the settings in the config file but how am I switching to the selected custom resolution? Even after making the changes, the custom resolution is not available in the options...

Please assist.

What game? :?

If it's a Quake 3 based one, then the res will be selected automatically (well, if you changed mode="-1"). It likely wont work in the menus, though. If you try to cycle through resolutions in the menu/settings, the res wont appear, because only hard coded ones do so.
