so i bailed on my ideas from the 1155 or 2011 thread.. the reason was purely timeframe.
the chip i wanted wasnt shipping till 2/14 (yeah, yeah, thats like 5 days away now.. but it wasnt when i ordered everythign a week ago! lol)

and i already packed up my old system for sale, so i had nothing and needed something asap.

So its been a few days.. heres the new rig:
Corsair 500r case
Asus mobo
i7 2600k @ 4.6ghz
Thermaltake Frio
8gb ddr3 1600
80GB intel SSD (os)
1TB WD Green (movies/shows/music/pics/projects etc)
1TB samsung spinpoint (games)
Pioneer Blu Ray burner
2x Nvidia GTX 470s SLI @ 750core 1500 Shader
3x Dell ultrasharp 1907s 4:3

loving it so far!
havnt played a ton of stuff yet but im pretty happy with how its working out so far. was able to OC vid and cpu right off the bat with fair numbers.

the CPU OC isnt that great but its definitely the thermal pastes fault, it was old and wasnt spreading real well so its definitely uneven. im sure i can get 4.8 or even hopefully 5.0 with this Thermaltake cooler and some new arctic silver. it runs at 4.8 but it locks up after about 20 min of stress test. i can post and get into windows @ 4.95, but stress test kills it within like 1 min.

The system is so new and awesome Im REALLY tempted to use tax refund for 3x new monitors but its just so much cash to do so..

i was looking for a 3dmark score thread but the only one i saw was for vantage that was pretty old.
on 3dmark11 im getting just under 10k. man i want to break 10k so bad lol. i got 9,550 last run.
running passmark next. hoping for over 10k. i think last i checked the 2600s were in the 9000+ range stock. so i should be over if all is working right.

So i did get that passmark score and it was 12k almost on the nose. 1196 to be exact i believe.
again though, with better thermal paste im sure i can get a better oc. i was really bummed about the paste not spreading well :(
especially so as the thermaltake Frio was one of the more annoying and difficult HSFs ive ever installed..

another side note, the corsair 500r is easily the best case ive ever installed into. i really can't say enough good about it. and im not average user, ive had lian-li 300$ cases and the big boys like the antec 1200

That's a great motherboard, I am using it on my Eyefinity rig.

Interesting about the case. I just installed my Nvidia Surround rig into an Antec Nine Hundred Two and I love it. I am thinking of buying a second to re-home my Eyefinity rig whose case is having issues. I'll have to check out your Corsair case first though.

In what ways do you feel it's better than the Antec ones?

I went P8Z68 Deluxe Gen3 on my latest build.

Lookin for new case myself, and unfortunately for my wallet I have my eye on the Cosmos II.
