question about fov and farcry/hl2

I noticed in the options for FarCry you can change the resolution to widescreen (mines 1680x1050) but I was wondering if that just stretches it or if it automatically increases the FOV aswell. My other question is what FOV does HL2 use because I want to know what to compare my other games too since HL2 has a true native widescreen option. Thanks

I'm not sure what the FOV in HL2 is ... I would imagine 90 ...
