Widescreen 1600x900 Problem !PLease Need Help!
Hi
I just registred in this Forum :) , my name is Steve and i have a Problem with my 1600x900 Monitor =/
When i try to play some games like... for example Far Cry 2, Call of Juarez The Cartel, Sniper Ghost Warrior..etc
My picture just streches over the edge of my Monitor..the height is ok but it is just left and it streches so i cant see any menu icons ...my Desk is made for 1600x900?
A year ago i had a different PC then all was fine..it was Win XP 32 bit ...now i have Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit and it just pisses me off sometimes |(
If i play these listed games on 1280x800 everthing is fine...but i can play eveery game else on 1600x900
Please can someone help me this is really annoying :tired:

Display model is the manufacturer and serial number of the display you are using.
Like Dell UltraSharp U3011 or Asus VH238H.
EDIT - And 1280x768 is a 15:9 aspect ratio. With your display model we can verify the correct resolution and aspect ratio.

This is definitely a 16:9 monitor with a native res of 1600x900.
This is an interesting problem. Have you tried updating your video card driver?

If you run the free program
If you run the free program Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/download.php/) and take a screenshot with it in game, could you post it here? I'd be interested to see what resolution the game runs at and how it looks when a screenshot is taken to know what to start searching for as a potential cause.

Some games have a aspect setting built in. Have you tried looking for that and making sure it is set to 16:9 ?

Check your MONITOR menu. It is probably accessed by a button next to the power button on your monitor. When you are in the settings, check for something called "aspect ratio" or "display setting". You might have options such as WIDE/FULL/ASPECT etc. Change this and see if it helps.

Hi mate, we care but noone
Hi mate, we care but noone has any ideas as to what it could be or what to try.
It's a strange problem.
I would try going through your monitor's menus and restoring any defaults first of all. If that did not fix it, I would be trying a different monitor. If that did not fix it, I would re-install Windows.

As has been mentioned if your getting correct screenshots that almost always means it is a problem with the display setting. Look for a 1:1 setting or the like.
Also be aware that resolutions like 1280x800 and 1280x768 will have black bars on the sides on that display.
