driver fail ever since 10.11

Post by tbaerg »

So I've been having heck of a time since the cat 10.11's and hot fixes came out. Everytime I install after a super clean including deletes and driver sweeps in safe mode I get all sorts of 2d artifacting on the desktop and windows flickering. Also, Video playback goes right down the toilet. My gaming performance is cut by what appears to be about 60%. I had previously played TF2 at 3600x1920 with 8x AA and 16x AF at around 75FPS. Anytime I update though its just bad news. Here are my specs

Phenom 965 BE at 3.9GHZ
8GB Gskill ddr3-1600
2 x HIS Radeon 5850
Asus M4A79xtd Evo
Corsair 750W

Strange things is that no matter how sloppy of a job I do rolling back to the 10.10 I have no problems. Any ideas?

uhhhh problem solved. I did several more uninstalls in normal boot and in safe mode and all of the sudden we're good to go. THanks everyone who stopped in.

i retract my earlier statement, having problems with drivers again. After running amd overdrive auto-tune started getting screen artifacting and flickering on my monitor that's on the dvi port. Rolled back to 10.10 and no problems. Boooooo urns to new drivers; and here i was really looking forward to the new 10.12 hotfix for 5x1.

Same here; 10.10 works well, while any upgrade with later driver gives flickering on the DP monitor.. Rolled back to 10.10 and problem solved.

amazingly, the 10.12 hotfix for 5x1 portrait works great. I still get lousy playback of videos in game (the opening video for l4d2 for example), but overall I get much smoother performance than even in 10.10. Hope you have better luck like I did.
