Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
What are the requirements really for 3D?
1. Nvidia gtx4*0 GPUs?
2. 3D Monitor?
So no ATI 5000 series?

For Nvidia
you just need an NVidia card, 3D monitor (120hz) and there glasses, as far as I'm aware NVidia already do 3D with them monitors, its just
that will be put into a driver update at some point.: ) Skid : )

Mmm no i think youll need SLI to have it, plus 3 x 3D compatible monitors and glasses of course.

Fair point, you will need 2 cards in SLI and 3 3D monitors for for
, but for single screen 3D you only need the one. And it can be a GTX 2** card. That's my fault for trying to get people to ask to have my smiley put into the list when the original question was just about normal 3D  ) Skid : )

Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
On nvidia's web site, it says
"1NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround requires upcoming NVIDIA release 256 driver, two or more graphics cards in NVIDIA SLI configuration, 3D Vision glasses, and 3D Vision-Ready displays. See http://www.nvidia.com/surround for more information."
Any idea of a rough release date for that driver? :)

Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
"Weeks" was what nVidia have said to... Anandtech I think. But "weeks" in nVidia time could mean anything from tomorrow (ie: Sunday, start of a new week) to just before Christmas.
Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
i realy hope the 3d vision surround driver release with the fermi cards on 12. april. two used 260gtx are cheaper than one new ati 5850 and have more power ... i realy realy hope they get there drivers to eyefinity lvl in speed.
Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
Yeah.... I've been running a pair of 280GTX's in SLI for awhile now.
I'm hopeful that I can finally take my TH2Go-D box out of the loop and use my three monitor's native res (1600x1200) to get a nice sharp 4800x1200 instead of my default 3840x1024.
The 'ol Matrox box has served me well, but I look forward to this driver upgrade (and pray it works).
At least one of the slides from PAX East I saw shows that bezel management is included with the drivers.... so that's good news.

Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
Currently I'm running two 8800GTS cards side-by-side for my three monitors, and using SoftTH for the few games which support Triplehead and allow me to get decent framerates. It would be nice if they allowed older Nvidia cards to work with their new "surround" support, but I'm not holding my breath.
Re: 3D Surround at Pax East Video
From what I read in early press, triple-screen will only work with the newer cards and the 2xx series; SLI required for both series of cards.
