Post subject:  21:9 as custom res on 4k screen

Hello, I've recently bought a 40" Samsung KU7000 4k TV. Due to the size of the screen, I find it more practical using a 21:9 custom res (3840x1620), which lowers the viewing height a little (with black bars). This works great with some newer games, but finding that some games do not respect that res, despite being an option in the in-game resolutions available. These games work fine at full 4k res, but when the 21:9 res is selected, it doesnt switch to that.

I believe these games (ie, Dirt2, Dirt 4) may work if the native res was 21:9, rather than a custom res. Is there a work around for this, ie, an EDID emulator or something that tricks the display driver into see it as a native res?

Thanks.

I've been doing just this thing over the past week. I just picked up the Dell P3217Q. I found that Pillars of Eternity respected the custom res, but Witcher 3 did not. Easy solution I found was to run Witcher 3 in Borderless Window.
