I get tired of lazy ass developers not adopting multi/ultra wide.

I held back buying this game because of this, and it looks like we will be waiting for some generous soul who wants to input his or her time into it to fix it, Capcom wont.

Irritating....

hmm.. Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain was also denuovo, and jackfuste, apologies if I have misspelled his user name, had figured out a way to fix it. I guess time will tell.

How easy is it to get a refund once you purchase directly on Steam? I might buy it, and refund it in direct protest to help official 21:9 support.

its easy, just not hit the barrier of over than 2 hours of play
state the game not running well, crashing, bad dev support (this one is true)

i had preordered then ask refund due the lack of 21:9 demo and ordered again
now i think i will ask refund, since there is no word for 21:9 aspect ratio official support and mod the game exe does nothing

the bad part of this is the game is actualy good

Tried changing values in re7_config.ini

Some interesting ones are:
FovHackEnable=false changing to true, did not make any difference
FullScreenDisplayMode=247 Changing didnt make any visual difference.
PlayerFOV=4 changed FoV however within the square frame.

I tried hex too, and no luck. Really hope Capcom patches it in, because as it stands now, I doubt there is anyway to get it done ourselves. Usually if there is a way, someone releases the fix almost a couple hours after the game drops. Also wanted to thank everyone who has put in so much work keeping 21:9 alive on this site and forums. I've lurked for awhile, and ever since I got my Ultrawide, you guys have been the number one resource for fixes.

Thanks a ton guys, hopefully we will be able to play this one in 21:9, it is a good game.

It's not "ruined," this is the best Resident Evil in years. It's an awesome game but the lack of ultrawide support is baffling, considering VR.

That said, I'm currently playing with black bars and, while it still sucks, it's not as bad as some games since much of the game is dark & you can only see a by the narrow cone of a flashlight.

Meh, no game, not even Half Life 3 would make me want to play with black bars on the sides. I may as well box my monitor up and send it back to Dell so I can play on my 16x9 side monitor.

My 'fix' for this has been to ignore RE7 and play through SOMA, a game that has perfect 21:9 support out of the box.

I just don't see how someone with an ultrawide screen is ok with spending $60 on a game that doesn't work properly with their setup...

When 4 came out people disliked the view as well. I found the tank controls pretty unwieldy with K+M.

I'm not trying to give Capcom a pass, but I've heard that Ultrawide isn't very popular in Japan. I'm not sure how true that this, I haven't really investigated it. Regardless, its one of the most asked for addition to an upcoming patch.

That being said, I'd take black bars with smooth fps over 21:9 with sketchy framerates like The Evil Within.

I guess when you play as many games as I do, you learn to roll with the punches. It'd hate to have to force myself not to play some of the year's best games just because the aspect ratio isn't ideal. Not that I wouldn't love to play this game in ultrawide, but if you start boxing up PC parts just because a specific game doesn't utilize them to their fullest potential, you're eventually going to be sitting in a chair staring at an empty desk.

Hahaha, I can't help but laugh at this. The amount of games that don't support ultrawide is minimal dude. I have 200 games in my steam library, totaling $3,500 in value according to some steam account worth calculator thing, and I'd wager that more than 80% of those games work in ultrawide or have some sort of fix available to get it working in ultrawide. I am by no means going to start boxing up PC parts just because one game doesn't support it. The majority of games that release this year will likely work just fine in 21:9.

My point I'm making is I don't see why someone with an ultrawide gaming setup would spend $60 on a game that doesn't work properly with their setup. There are plenty of $10-$20 games that work in 21:9 just fine, therefore I cannot justify $60 for lazy development. Hell, the resolution is even in the options menu, they just chose to put black bars up on ultrawide aspect ratios. I think you took the sarcasm in my previous post a little too literally.

Computer hardware for ultrawide is pretty expensive. $60 to some people is more money than to others. I am also a sucker for advertising. :lol: I agree that its very lazy development, but fans of the series have been waiting a long time for this game. I'm not going to let it ruin my enjoyment. I could also be saying that because playing at 1440 with black bars is much more tolerable than playing at 1080 with black bars.

Do I think that 21:9 should be supported by all games? Definitely.

At the very least you should be able to have the option to tweak the config files or hex to make it work. The fact that I can't is pretty bunk. It's like buying a car that requires you to go to the shop to install windshield wipers.

Voting with your wallet is always the best option, and I didn't this time. =/

That's cool, don't buy the game.. not sure why you're in this thread, though? Just to complain about the price and bash the devs? I'm here cuz I own the game & am waiting for one of the awesomely skilled members of this forum to offer up a fix, and also to mention that the game is quite playable even with the boxing, due to the flashlight mechanic. I almost waited on playing it, but remembering the demo experience, I went for it and I'm glad I did cuz it's a great game, despite the lack of 21:9.

And by the way, most of those 200 games in your Steam library did not support ultra-wide out of the box, especially if they're more than 1-2 years old. The vast majority of games that are playable in 21:9 are that way because of ini tweaks or Flawless Widescreen/Widescreen fixer. RE7 will be added to that list eventually. 'til then, enjoy SOMA. It's a great game, but I've beaten it too many times to want to play it again when RE7 is out :)

eta: poster above makes a valid point; $60 is nothing to me, and this is my hobby so I'm glad to spend any amount of money on it.

The indication that 3440x1440 exists in the options means ultra-wide should be available, right? There's no such thing as a 16:9 3440x1440.

I wasn't really thinking about the laptop situation, Haldi.

I'd buy one.

You can select 3440x1440 in the menu, but it still has black bars on both sides of the screen. You can select 2560x1440 and it will stretch to fill the screen, but looks awful.

If that's the case, that sounds like Capcom had every intention of supporting it and we need the official patch.

3440x1440 exists in the options menu because the options menu is coded to reflect the available resolutions that your monitor supports. It's not a harbinger of anything, unfortunately.

I managed to obtain ultrawide 5760x1080 with hex, but it is streched, can't fix the aspect ratio to 21:9.

First make the hex hack, after that set the resolution in game in grafics options for 1 Monitor (mine are 1980x1800 per Monitor) and select fullscreen, then hit Alt+Ent to exit fullscreen and press it again to enter full screen and you should have ultrawide but streched....

If someone can solve the problem with the aspect ratio...

Hi. Found a temporary ( and sh...y) solution :
1- in control panel/adjust desktop size select full screen
2- in game select a 16/9 resolution ( ex. if you use 2560x1080, choose 1920x1080 ) and increase resolution scaling option, to compensate.
3- in your monitor menu, select cinema mode. Most ultrawide monitors have this option.
Now a can play in 21/9, image quality is good, especially if i put resolution scaling between 1.5 and 2. Only if i turn subtitles on, the second row is out of screen. The rest of menu and UI items, appears to be ok, but i am only at the beggining of the game.

What is this "hex hack" of which you speak?



It was a ultrawidefix for another game, "Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain" wich had exact the same symptoms like Resident Evil 7, you were able to choose in the game option menu the resolution for example 5760x1080, but then you had the black bars on the left and the right monitor.

It worked perfecly for Metal Gear Solid and other games I heared.

the game just got cracked a few days ago. so denuvo shouldnt get in the way of a hero making a widescreen fix for this game.

!!!!!! MAKE A BACKUP OF THE RE7 EXE !!!!!!



What you need:
HxD
Cheat Engine
FileUnsigner

What I did:
-Get Cheat Engine working with RE7-
.5. Used FileUnsigner on all three of the cheat engine .EXEs. (drag the exes onto the extracted FileUnsigner exe(as admin))

-Begin Editing-
1. Hex edited the EXE the way zens said.(added my own hex codes for my custom resolution and aspect ratio) (6020x1080 = D0 5E B2 40 , AB AA 48 42)
2. Started both Cheat Engine and Resident Evil 7.
3. Got to an FPS section in-game. Menu screens will not work.
4. Opened the RE7 process in Cheat Engine (computer symbol with magnifying glass)

-Finding variable in memory- // I consider this one step
5.1. Set FOV to 90 in-game.(which will be seen as "4" in the memory)
5.2. New Scan for the value of "4" in Cheat Engine.

5.3 Set FOV to 85 in-game.(which will be seen as "3" in the memory)
5.4. Next Scan for the value of "3" in Cheat Engine.

5.6. Set FOV to 80 in-game.(which will be seen as "2" in the memory)
5.7. Next Scan for the value of "2" in Cheat Engine.

5.8. Set FOV to 75 in-game.(which will be seen as "1" in the memory)
5.9. Next Scan for the value of "1" in Cheat Engine.

5.10. Set FOV to 70 in-game.(which will be seen as "0" in the memory)
5.11. Next Scan for the value of "0" in Cheat Engine.

-Editing the FOV Value-
6. Right-Click on the first or second address that was found and add it to the Address List. (test both, but you only need one)
7. Change the value from the Address List to the desired FOV value.(Mine was 15)

!!!! The FOV values go like this: (0 = 70 FOV), (1 = 75 FOV), (2 = 80 FOV), (4 = 90 FOV), ... , (14 = 140 FOV) !!! Be careful!

8. DONE!

This was the first time I used Cheat Engine like this, so I am not sure how to make it auto-magically find the FOV variable address at the start of the game.

You will have to repeat Step 5 - 7 each time you start the game.

Can anyone post hex values for 5760 x 1080 and 5930 x 1080? Trying to get this to work as well. Thanks for the fix! This will make this game that much better being able to play with Ultrawide/multi monitor .

for removing the black bars u have to devide horizontal with vertical so:
"5760\1080=5" means 5.00000(float) 40A00000h "00 00 A0 40"(bin)
and for the ratio it should be something like "16x3=48" means 48.00000(float) 42400000h "00 00 40 42"(bin)

the ratio should fit for 5930 x 1080 aswell it has 49,41 (5.49x9) so maybe 49.50000(float) 42460000h "00 00 46 42"(bin)

for blackbars on that res.: something like 5.50000(float) 40B00000h "00 00 B0 40"(bin)

so @CivilWolf u did it well.

Hey man, thanks a lot!!! Works beautiful!! Only thing though is that I gotta set the resolution to 2560 x 1440p or the screen streches out of the monitor. It is pretty bizarre, is as if 3440 horizontal was larger when using these values. However, setting it to 2560 works pretty good.

I still find it to be very off TBH, everything seems to be so close and so big, fov doesn't even feel like 90 and made me feel sick after playing for like 10 mins.

For some reason the fix doesn't work for me, my game doesn't launch. I do the following:

1. Load exe file into hex editor
2. Find 39 8E E3 3F and replace it with AA AA AA 40 (For 5760 x 1080)
3. Find 9A 99 19 40 and replace it with 00 00 40 42 (For 5760 x 1080)
4. Click save in Hexd
5. See that hexd has placed a file.Bak in my RE7 folder
6. try to launch game, doesn't do anything

Please can someone let me know if i am doing it wrong, i have never used a hex editor in my life.

Any chance that Flawless Widescreen will support this any time soon? I remember I used it for some older titles but I don't know whether it's still supported.
If not, what exact changes do I need to make to the .exe file in hex editor for 3440x1440 to get everything working fine - without black bars and with a proper FoV?

For 5760x1080 you need to search for 39 8E E3 3F and replace it with AB AA AA 40, leave the resolution in the game options on 1980x1080, (for your single Monitor) then press Alt+Ent and again Alt+Ent and the bars on the side are gone, but it is streched over all my three monitors. Now remains only one problme the aspect ratio for 5760x1080....

Hello there.

I am kinda stuck figuring out what to change on the hex editor. From what I understand it is only the bin number and the rest, like float values, get fixed automatically, is that correct?
If correct, what values would work for 3360x2100?

You guys notice this (attachment)? Not sure if it helps, but it appears to be the fields that are read from re7_config.ini. Oddly there's this 16:9 string lost in there...

Anyway, if we could make one of these FOV values from 0 to 4 behave like another arbitrary value I guess we'd be able to change the FOV without Cheat Engine.

EDIT: The formula appears to be 70 + PlayerFOV*5 (i.e. PlayerFOV=4 results in 70+4*5 = 90). Default FOV for invalid ini is 80 if it helps. I'm searching for anything resembling this...
EDIT 2: Well, there are 18 occurences of 00 00 8C 42 (float(70)) in the file. Some are near sequences ( 70.5, 71, 71.5, ...) so it's probably not these. I'm lazy to test every possible value right now. :mrgreen:

Good job guys, awesome work! Got UltraWide to work for me on 2560x1080.

I then used http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.ph ... 07#p168607 to change my FOV to 100. I had to end up changing both addresses to 6 though, all looks good tho.

The way I do it is:

Get your"surround aspect ratio" from http://www.wsgf.org/fovcalc.php


Bezel Compensation Resolution: 6020x1080
"Surround aspect ratio = 301 : 54 or 5.574074 (inc bezel comp.)"

Decimal Form: 5.574074
Ratio Form: 301:54


Get "Black Bar" HEX:

Take the decimal form of your ratio and input it into an IEE 754 converter, I used: https://www.h-schmidt.net/FloatConverter/IEEE754.html

You will get something like: 0x40b25ed0
Remove the "0x" and reverse the order in pairs of two.
40b25ed0 = D0 5E B2 40

D0 5E B2 40 is the "Black Bars" HEX



Get "Ratio" HEX:
Take the RATIO FORM of your ratio and input it into a the A and B boxes of a Ratio Calculator, I used: http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/math/ratios.php

Thank you for taking the time to share this. Sadly, it did not work for me. The game does not start up. I rechecked everything and got the same result, after changing the hex codes and saving, once I try to start the game, it just gives me an error, cannot run the game, no leaving the desktop at all.

I think it might have to do with the fact that the hex codes that zens mentioned we have to change, are not on the same offset on my computer, which, seems to be the case for the poster above me, matthias as well. I will borrow his screenshot as it looks exactly like on mine.

0000FC50 and 0000FC60 look like this:

Still, I changed those hex codes for the ones for my ratio/resolution and cannot boot the game. Any tips?

You're supposed to change this value to 00 00 A8 41 (for 21:9, or whatever the correct value for your case is)

This is the "ratio offset" value.

The one you highlighted is indeed the one that will fix the black bars. You have to change both of these values accordingly.

As to why your addresses are different, my guess is that it has something to do with some Denuvo bollocks... (though I find it kinda odd that it would self-modify).
That or you're running an outdated version for some reason.

I find it really odd that this happens though.
Does anyone knows what Steam is actually doing here? Does it calculate hashes for every binary when it bootstraps or something?

Thanks a lot! So many numbers i jumbled some of it...heh. Still, I was having a hard time even after I fixed that, the game ran, but still saw no changes, even restarting steam, offline, online, nothing.

Found out that I had on the ingame options, set it to full screen...needed it to be on borderless window of course...now it looks good!

Also, found an even easier and faster way to fix the FOV. On the same forum where the initial fov was discovered, someone further down uploaded a fov unlock script, its better.

For those who do not have a clue how to do this (like myself) I found this on YouTube. Its an .exe download with the Hex work already added. There is a fix for both 3440x1440 and 2560x1080

To recap, download and install Cheat Engine, then download that script, run RE7, then alt+tab, run CE, on CE, click on the computer icon under “File”, choose re7 from the list and click on open. Then, on windows explorer, find the script file and drag it to CE. Check the box down on the left, click on the value area on the right and put down the FOV you want.

Not sure. Pretty new to all this myself...I just changed it to what felt right for me.

Btw, that FOV unlock script has been updated due to an error in a cutscene.

"Updated Pointers and backup pointers for Unlock FOV as the original pointer changed to ???? after cutscene."

Hey guys, did anyone try the fix for the cpy version of the game and got it working?I have followed the steps meticulously it opens and then crashes right after checking dlc dialog.Any help here would be greatly appreciated.I can even post the exe for that matter.

I've followed this but once the .exe is connected the address in the script remains ????? and I cannot edit the value. I see others have been having the same problem :( http://steamcommunity.com/app/418370/discussions/0/133255957992053921/ . I notice without the FOV changing at 3440x1440 its just a little bit off when switching to full screen.

Weird. Same thing just happened to me. You can fix it though. Once you are running RE7 and CE, added re7 to CE and dragged the script to CE, if you cannot do anything to it, then do this:

Right click on the script and on the list you get, put the mouse on top of "Group Config", then you get a new menu, once there left click on "Hide children when deactivated". You could also enable "Allow left and right to collapse and expand". Either way, it should fix it and you will be able to see the current FOV as well as edit it.

Also, once you have added the value for the FOV, make sure to tick the box on the middle, on the left, so that the FPS value doesn't change even if you have to reload.

Make sure that you are doing all this once you are in-game though, not on the game menu.

Also, be sure to get the new version of FOV Unlocker:

I have some problems.
When I run CE after running RE i get the error "this game is incompatible with cheat engine. Please close CE and restart the game" So I can't use the script. I guess I have to use FileUnsigner on the three .EXEs? But when I try that it fails to unsign and the access is denied:/

Yup, you have to use FileUnsigner. You have to right click each of them, go to properties, compatibility and check the box to run them in administrator mode. Once done on all three, it should work.

Also, to add to my earlier post, once you have added the value for the FOV, make sure to tick the box on the middle, on the left, so that the FPS value doesn't change even if you have to reload.

Hi guys

I used the Hex Fix for 3440x1440 but I still have black little bars on the side. How can I fix that?

Well I just notice my game is not 21:9 even though I modified the Hex Values. It just zooms in....

I changed my hex codes:

Change 39 8E E3 3F to 9A 99 19 40 and
change 00 00 80 41 to 00 00 2C 42

My game seems zoomed in, along with menu's and cutscenes. I have my graphics settings checked to 3440x1440 in-game. Should I be running this at 2560x1440?

Edit: I changed my in-game settings to 2560x1440 with the hex fix, and my menu's, cutscenes, and gameplay look fine with no black bars, and doesn't look like anything is stretched.

I'm running native 3440x1440 on my monitor....

Okay, if I use the hex codes in zens first post at 3440x1440 everything works except I get smaller 1/4 inch bars on each side, but everything works fine.

I was able to get no black bars on the side of my monitor, and the aspect ratio seems to be working.

Thank you, finally after failing over and over with various different hex edits yours were perfect. For some reason my EXE has the top hex value on a different line (90 instead of 50) and I think that's why I have had such issues. Previous attempts have had me with super zoomed in picture that makes the game obviously unplayable. Was about to give up and steam refund when I saw your post and noticed your hex values were slightly different. Figured meh one more try and finally I can play this game proper in 3440x1440 on my x34 predator.

In my opinion there not a single fix atm. You either get a cut down picture on the top and bottom or you get no black bars on the side, but a strechted image. 3440x1440 user here.

Agreed. I was able to change my hex values and came to the same calculations he did, but my menu is still really zoomed in. I've triple checked my values. Maybe I need to update drivers? I can't imagine that would be it. It's gotta be one of these dumb values...

As far as the menu problem (Menu would look fine if I changed the res to 2560x2440, go figure), I had the same thing until I changed the values to the ones above. Not sure why that was happening. I usually play games around 90 FOV. Could it be that the values above used with the FOV CheatEngine fix makes things look not stretched?

I remember trying out the fix without the aspect ratio fix, and I could tell that things were stretched.

The only reason that I could see that the top hex value difference is that there is a steam version of the game and a Windows Store version... but I have no idea.

I tried to get it to work, but was unsuccessful. That is when I tried the hexes in my comment and it seemed to fix everything. I am not experiencing the stretching that is being showed in the screenshots. I experienced that stretching when I edited the first hex but not the second...

On Multi monitor 5760x1080 the image is definitely stretched and zoomed in. haven't tried the FOV fix or script yet, not sure if that will help or not. Just getting frustrated as Capcom probably could fix this relatively easy with a patch for multi monitor and 21:9. Another question is what ever happened to nvidia's simultaneous multi projection? No games have come out supporting the technology and RE is nvidia.

for other game capcom no fix that....ex metal gear solid V....fov hack is only solution !!!

I do not want to make anybody sad or so, I am not a troll. Just a gamer!
I think, when we hex RE7 into 21:9 we lost picture material up and down.
I add 3 pictures from my 2 monitors which shows this.

In my opinion: If the game is not programmed with 21: 9 support, we do have a problem.

But when the game is progammed with 21:9 support like BF1 we do have an big advantage with 21:9!!! See BF1 pictures.

I need to know this before I pull my hair out. This is where I change the fov right? I've tried so many times now and the fov won't change ingame.

The FOV address is pretty much random. It can also change to a different address during the game (for example when viewing the first VHS tape).
On 5760x1200 resolution there is great amount of distortion (not stretching, but fisheye effect towards the edges), and it increases a lot when increasing the FOV. Pretty much unplayable right now. :(

In 21:9 foramt game uses vertical FOV of 75 and cant be changed, (without CE when it works); it is same FOV as on PS4/PS4 Pro version:

So its not "zoomed in" like some people are saying; it only cant run vertical FOV over 75

I also had issues with the FOV script. Instead, I created a trainer for myself using Cheat Engine that overwrites FOV when it is modified in-game. It sets FOV to 15 whenever it is active.

If this works let me know so I can possibly create another trainer that includes more FOV values.


Instructions:(I only have to follow these steps now)

1. Start RE7_Trainer.EXE.
2. Start Resident Evil 7.
3. Press F1 at the main menu.

If that didn't work use these steps just to make sure: (These are the steps I took to "debug" the trainer. They still work.)

1. Start RE7_Trainer.EXE.
2. Start Resident Evil 7.
3. Go to a playable portion of the game and press F1
4. Change FOV to anything.


If you want to create your own, follow my first post on page 4 to get your FOV variable address. Then follow Mr GoldGiver's Channel's tutorial(bottom credits) to create a trainer that modifies the FOV value.

Cutscenes are the biggest issue now. They apparently do not use the same FOV value.


!!! NOTE: The "F# key" I mention in the instructions are the F1 - F11 keys at the top of the keyboard. !!!


If you know your desired FOV:

1. Start Trainer and Resident Evil 7.
2. Press the F# key at the main menu.
3. Enjoy!

If you don't know your desired FOV:

1. Start Trainer and Resident Evil 7.
2. Go to a playable portion of the game.
3. Guess which FOV you want from the trainer and press its designated F# key.
4. In-game settings: Change FOV to anything. (The trainer will overwrite it)

-Stop here if you like that FOV-

5. If you do not like that FOV, press the F# key again to deactivate it. Repeat Step 3-5 until you find the correct FOV.

I set 105 FOV, (like 90 on 16:9) and tried cutscene from beggining when Mia have chainsaw and there is no problem...

The biggest issue I have now is, during cutscenes the FOV zooms in. I don't think it affects ultra-wide users as much as triple-monitor users.

Yes im using a 16:10 resolution and im stuck with black bars on top and below and want to get rid of those to fill up my screen but im lost at Hex editing... been trying for two days now ?! Looking at the picture below i cant seem to find the adress in hex that he wants to change from "9" to "10" ? How to do that in hex editor ??? what is the Hex editor he is using,,, doesn't look the same as mine ?

Or what are the values in Hex for resolution "1920x1200" ???

Also i can use Amd VSR and wamp up the internal resolution to 2560x1600 in game but what are the Hex values for "2560x1600" ???

Im not interested in FOV editing i just want to fill up my screen in 16:10 resolution... any help is welcome (noobie help plz) thank you guys !!!

Thats exactly what i was looking for... i used another Hex editor and was able to see that hex "00 00 10 41" was containing float value "9" so when i changed float value to "10" instead the hex changed accordingly to "00 00 20 41" just like you showed, i have no idea how hex works but the game works now in "16:10" ratio both in 1920x1200 and 2560x1600, although it stretches the image its barely noticable... more immersible now without the stupid black bars :thumbup: thank you !!!

The hex you have to change to fix the screen stretching is a line above the one you changed earlier. Here it is if you want to fix it:

You may also see it as: 1.777778


Change it to:

1.6
or
CD CC CC 3F

Ayeee im speechless... thank you once again !!! Yes screen stretching is always nice to fix, had no idea it was even possible... yes i saw floating value as "1.777778" and changed it to "1.6" and yes the hex changed accordingly to CD CC CC 3F :thumbup:

Hmmm... It should have worked. That is about all that needed to be done to get rid of the letter boxing and stretched screen. If you want, I can take a look at your .exe file if you send me a download link.

It should have responded with "FOV # Activated" If it worked.

One option is to go to page 4 of the thread and follow step 4-5.11 of my post to find your FOV value. You can then modify the value to the one you desire!

It should have responded with "FOV # Activated" If it worked.

One option is to go to page 4 of the thread and follow step 4-5.11 of my post to find your FOV value. You can then modify the value to the one you desire!

It helps to change the ratio from 21:9 to 43:18 (hor:ver). Seems to fix the fov., also screen placements for diffrent kind of stuff (hud, inventar,..) "eats" alot of Performance, should look/feel as it mention. Personally i don`t see a diffrence between 21:9 and 43:18 (wich may depends on my monitor, upscaled from 2560x1080 to 3440x1440), but u will notice on "alt+enter",u will be able reaching the maximum diagonal amount for FOV based on the ratio 43:18.

A key for that game would be very appreciated.

Is there any way to fix the fisheye-distortion? None of the vertical lines in the screenshots posted in this thread are straight closer to the edges, and it gets way worse when using triple-monitor setup.

Damn it! That is not what I'm seeing, but it's exactly what I want. Why would it work on your game but not on mine? You are sure you did nothing else to the software? There was no other step mentioned earlier in this thread? The only thing I can think of is that I am running Tridef to create a SBS 3D image ... I wonder if the Tridef hook could be interfering with that code somehow ... I'll have to try it without Tridef and see if it works.

There is nothing in the world could "fix" that problem. A 3 dimensional room on a linear is allways in "perspective", combined with a field of view higher then 120° will result in this unnatural effect. Curving a display could reduce that effect again i guess, or maybe a cubed holodec. If u look at the last picture above, u will notice the beginning of that "effect" on the left door. It shall suggest "Depth" to the player.

Sure, but this is literally the first game I've seen that does this. If I search for "5760 screenshot" on google images I can't find one other game where this happens: vertical lines at the edges of the screen stay vertical, not rounded. I guess this is some kind of artistic filter/shader they decided to use for some claustrophobic effect or something. It's not an issue on "normal" aspect ratios, and wider ones are not officially supported so I guess there is not much one can do about it.

I tracked down the values, the first two had no effect, the last one crashed the game.
I'm probably making a mistake somewhere.

Here's a thought: If I play at 1920x1080, I get full screen, no letterboxing. But of course the aspect ratio is messed up. Could I keep it at that resolution so I can have a full screen image, but change the aspect ratio in the .exe so that the image isn't stretched?

Is that possible? I really, really want to play fullscreen.

Basicly if u are using a tripple setting it has to multiply x3.
(16x3):9 = 48:9 (hor:ver ratio) = 5.34 (black bar fix)

The fact only the horizontal line gets "increased" for that case, it may can lead to distortion. Multiply also the vertical by 3 could help.

Yes.

Here are the steps I took to find your HEX codes:

Removed the "0x" and reversed the HEX value.

I'm stumped. That is about all I've ever had to do for HEX values. Strange how it is not working in this case.

So i applied the hex edit fix for my resolution (3440x1440) but it turns out the only thing the fix does is removing the black bars and then
stretches the 16:9 game to fit a 21:9 sceen. https://imgur.com/a/FEeH2
Is it even possible to render the game in a 21:9 resolution so I can see more to the left and right? Does anyone have a 21:9 vs 16:9
comparison from the exact same moment ingame?

5040x1050 is 24:5 (12:2,5) = 4,8
3440x1440 is 43:18 (21:9) = 2,4

Changing the window mode with "alt + enter" fixes the streching.

Blinky u have to setup ur nativ monitor resolution. In ur case 1600x1800. Then u have to tweak the executable to ur needs. Your native resolution is equivalent to a 4:5 Ratio, or a 8:9 Ratio. So u have to tweak horizontal and/or vertical ratio value and the diagonal value (means 8:9= 0.89) in the executable.

This is what I currently have in place to run @ 3440x1440 and doing alt+enter doesn't change anything.

39 8E E3 3F > 8F E3 18 40
00 00 80 41 > 00 00 AC 41

I also don't have this last string in Hex editor.

39 8E E3 3F doesn't exist for me so I can't replace it with 8F E3 18 40 as CivilWolf suggests.



I also tried to do both FOV fixes. When I use Cheat Engine I don't get any options for FOV and when I use the trainer I select an F# value in the main menu, it says "activated" but nothing actually changes.

Edit: I said I felt like an idiot because I am one. I just realized that the 39 string doesn't exist because I replaced it :oops: Any input on the FOV?

Did anyone actually found a fix for the FOV in cinematics? They all seem to be extremely zoomed in 5760x1080.
Didn't look too much into this game as it seems you guys fixed most aspects already...

Can\t really tell u how it looks at that setup max. res. i could test is 3440x1440, wich looks ok to me. As i wrote before it may helps to double or even trible the ratio (horizontal and vertical, diagonal stays same, so the screen middle).

Which Ratio are you talking about?
Aspect Ratio? (first Value) ? Or others? like the X or Y?

ya for example turning a 21:9 into 63:24 fov seems tobe bound on the aspect ratio ingame.
5760x1080 = 5.3 (diagonal removes black bars) and its a "16 : 3" setup, so u can change vertical(y) ratio from 9 to 3 and horizontal(x) stays at 16. Or multiply vertical and horizontal with 3 means "48 : 9".

zens Big thanks, the mod is the same that i did. But now i think that the problem is the FOV, (the hud and menus are steched is normal?)
but the cheat enfine tables posted here for mod the FOV dont work for me (my exe is direrent). Damm im cursed...

Helifax we need your magic here too xD!!

the hud and menus are streched if horizontal and vertical values are low also if the diagonal value is wrong. here helps multiply hor : ver (diagonal will be same then for black bars but screen placement doesnt get streched anymore). calculating the diagonal also.

!!!This probably won't work on Steam versions of the game!!!


Can someone test out this WIP trainer? I'm not sure I pinned down the correct pointers. It works for me, but I'm not sure it would work for anyone else.


It should allow you to change FOV on the fly using both F# keys and numpad: /, * keys.
You should also be able to change the width scale of some HUD items with numpad: 8, 9.

If the HUD items become disproportionate, you can use [numpad +] to set them back to their full size.

HUD items affected by this should be:
Dialog Subtitles 1
Dialog Subtitles 2 (It was annoying that there were two)
Interaction Subtitles. (example: pressing attic button in the Guest House)
Inventory/Menu Bottom Center Buttons
Inventory/Menu text just above buttons.

I'm still trying to figure out how to save the values after the game quits.

I kept the scripts from my previous version intact, but now you have to press [Ctrl] + F# to activate them. If you used the new FOV method, you may have to "unfreeze" the values by pressing [numpad -] for the older scripts to take effect.

What seems to fix the cutscene FOV is using JDimentional's script in conjunction with the trainer(works with my previous trainers too). If you are using the trainer, you don't have to assign his pointer a value.*unless you really want to*

If anyone is looking to edit the HUD scale with cheat engine, here are a few tips that may be of use.

The "Screen Area" option in Display Settings also affects subtitles.

The "Screen Area" value has a default range of 900 - 1000. It scales the entire HUD, but stays skewed.

Subtitle values are not changed until they are shown in-game. Do not expect them to change right after you leave the menu.

Most HUD elements scale values are set to 1065353216. when the Screen Area is at maximum(1000).
Some HUD elements scale values are set to 1063675494 when the Screen Area is at minimum(900).

The Derelict House Footage is a good place to find cutscene\dialog subtitle values.

i have steam version and the trainer v2 doesnt works.
anyway the cheat engine v6.6 crash (dont support this version) when i start the game....

this game is a nightmare....(in the bad sense...:)).

Can anyone playing with a 3440x1440 resolution please show me how the re7.exe should look like?
This is how my re7.exe looks like after the changes described in zens post but this does not work for me
(game is still 16:9 and stretched even after alt+enter):

Thanks zens but sadly the the 21:9 (3440x1440) does not work for me. With standard re7.exe and with your re7.exe: https://imgur.com/a/JJWH2
I've tried fullscreen, windowed and borderless but all of them are zoomed-in and/or stretched.
I have a GTX 1080 with the newest driver, a Acer x34 monitor (3440x1440) and the latest RE7 update from steam.

Thats weird, but the second picture looks correct to me, just set fov to 90 (it should directly zoom out).

Use the 43:18 for 21:9 solution, it may help to setup the nativ monitor resolution before apply the fix,
maybe delete the old configuration (re7_config.ini in the game directory) before applying the fix.

I've alrealdy done that multiple times. I even restarted steam after I replaced the re7.exe or started a new game and so on...
It seems that the fix does not work for my hardware/monitor setup.

There is only steam and windows store version as "retail" available. You should not ask for support, to a pirated version of the game.

The 21:9 downloadable fix doesn't seem to work correctly. When the screen is stretched you're zoomed out the right amount. If you hit Alt-enter the stretching is gone, but then you're zoomed in way too far. It's like it's not working right or it's backward. Also, your "spoiler" view for the 48:9 5760x1080 triple-wide fix shows you changing the x value to the following:

Fix the ratio (horizontal X):
16.00000(float) 41800000(hex aligned) "00 00 80 41"(binary) to 48.00000(float) 42400000(hex aligned) "00 00 40 42"(binary)

At what line in the file is this value found? There are multiple instances of this value in the .exe. The reason I ask is I play at 5892x1080 resolution which has an aspect ratio of 5.44445 or "E8 93 AE 40" hex aligned. I could edit my own .exe file, but I don't know where in the file to find this "X" value you're changing.

Also, in your spoiler view you say you make the following change in the "fixed" .exe file you can download:

"39 8E E3 3F"(binary) to 5.333333(float) 40AAAAAB(hex aligned) "AB AA AA 40"

However, when i search the file I downloaded that value is not found in the .exe file??? Searched forward & backward... Shouldn't they match? I'm just trying to draw parallels so i can edit it for 5892x1080 myself. Please advise. Thanks for your assistance!

I know stupid question, but did u tryed my uploaded file for 48:9 ? The FOV for this game is bounded to the horizontal line, so a diffrent in that ratio value plus in the diagonal value can make the screen look ugly.

Yes, that was the file I tried. i also figured out in the post where the X & Y values are that you were changing...kinda easy once you see them in a row in the one picture in an earlier post. I edited a fresh .exe with my aspect ratio. Instead of 5.3, it's 5.44445 for 5892x1080 or E8 93 AE 40 (corrected or back-to-front). I used this same value to fix the movies in Witcher 3 at my resolution and it works perfectly. I then used your values to edit the X value like you did in the 48:9 example. It ran fine, but it has the same issue; when you go to full-screen mode it's still zoomed in real bad & if you ALT-enter you get the right zoom, but then everything is stretched. I'll try this latest file & thanks very much for sending it. I'll let you know ASAP how it works.

Also u can try to use the 16:3 solution. Both @fov90 should give a playable result in window or fullscreen. Sadly i cant setup that resolution to debug. So its abit guessing what may cause the problem.

I tried the new file and it was almost identical to what I had on the one I edited. Same issue unfortunately; even though the graphics fills the three screens it's not zooming out far enough so that you get the right proportions like you do in a game that supports 21:9 natively. If you could somehow figure out how to adjust the game while it's in borderless, then that would work. When in borderless it's zoomed out the right amount, but it's stretched. Thanks a lot for your help!

Just to correct, u dont have a 21:9 setup. The problem for a tripple screen setup is still u "increase" just the horizontal resolution, but not the vertical. physically with a fov bound ur up and down is "cut". In math it means: (16x3):9 = 48:9 = 16:3 . So horizontal fov of 90 means 90° degree to the most outside point of the horizontal line in that case "5870". So on the other hand the vertical line has to be locked to the horizontal. So with that values plus a Z axe u have the camera point in the 3D room.

...U could try to use a higher values too like 48:10 = 4.8 or even better 49:9

It's a design choice by Capcom - they constrain to 16:9, what actually happens without any modifications is the engine will run at 5760x3240 instead of 5760x1080 to maintain the 16:9 ratio.

All that changing the 9 to 3 (or whatever you need to change it to) does is stop the engine from compensating which ultimately screws up everything including performance.

A more reliable approach is to simply NOP/JMP this code out.

Ya, did not test more in that direction, 21:9 worked quit fine.
Also dont think Denovu will like patching the function. May corrupt the SFX or later CRC checks on the memory.

The code contains jump cases for 16:9 and 16:10 with the diagonal floating point as "constant", wich is a general fault.
So changing vertical cases and the diagonal to the result of the ratio should work for any ratio/resolution.

Did u allready found a solution?

...well tested alot now and its quit bugged for the window modes, depending on the hor:ver. and increasing the ratio really does not matter just eats performance, so i use now 21.5 : 9 and 2.38888889 wich removes the bars completly and it does not looked streched/zoomed atleast for 2560x1080 and 3440×1440.

The first one is a screenshot in 16:9 1920x1080 and the second one is your 21:9 screenshot. I don't see more to the left and right with the fix, it's just zoomed-in (or stretched in windowed borderless). I highly doubt it's possible tp play RE7 with a higher aspect ratio than 19:6 even with a fix. The engine just doesn't support it.

XOR xmm8 and xmm9 at the specific code, will force the renderer calc middle of screen correctly for all 3 render methods (fullscreen, windowed,borderless window). Works only in runtime, code is packed in the binary trough the protection.

At all it slightly zooms in, the whole renderer scales to the resolution and or the ratio. So that may be the desing decision.

Without "xoring" and only tweaking the float vals, "borderless window" is broken, but ratio is still correct for "fullscreen" and "windowed".

Btw. im done, its all i can do to it. And the "fisheye" is quit hard i noticed now for 16:3.

Thanks for the fix, however the UI elements of the game are stretched using nVidia Surround. Will wait for Hayden or Helifax to make a fix.

In 2017 why is it such a massive struggle to get a normal FOV and proper widescreen support, we have to use trainers made by people and crazy HEX exe hacks to get the game running as it should.

Then when you finally get in to game it looks an absolute mess because of all the monstrous filtering they use...

I know about the hex fixes etc....but what is the situation? Is the fix still giving problems because of cutscenes and different FOVs (VHS problems etc) ? I don't have the game yet because I didn't want to buy a game that does not support ultrawide.

I tried a method prior that included some hex editing that did not work, hoping the methods have been refined since the first week of launch.

There is no way to play RE7 in real 21:9 (being able to see more to the left and right in comparison to 16:9), even with a fix. The fix stretches or crops the 16:9 image to fit your ultrawide monitor: https://imgur.com/a/JqQyh
Sadly the engine does not support higher aspect ratios than 16:9 so the best way to play it is in 16:9 with black bars.

ok, I know this is not an ideal solution. But I cannot stand black bars in gaming, dunno why it drives me mad. therefore I will accept a cropping solution. What is the best way to crop for 21:9 (no stretching please)?

This can't be done by hex editing the exe... AFAIK there is no working FOV fix since the February patch. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Is this a NEW trainer? The FOV trainer I used do not work.

Hmm. It works on the two PCs I have tried it on. I'm thinking it is because I don't own any DLC. Do you own any DLC?

Hotkeys:

F1 - Overwrites the in-game FOV with the Desired FOV

I tried the one you published on August 20 and it had no effect whatsoever.
I am using this game with VorpX in order to run in VR, and the biggest (only) problem right now is forcing the FOV, for which this tool would come in useful.

I'll try again with your August 23 version and let you know if it does anything.

PS: Does it require DLC? Why a strange requirement like such? (Does one DLC expose control over the FOV?)

Tested with VorpX in VR... thank you for having updated this because now it works like an absolute delight!

I've tweaked the VorpX adjustments to work with the FOV on the F6 key if I'm not mistaken. One thing I'd appreciate is a way to tell what FOV we're setting to, like just writing it within the app's window like you once had done. I was hoping FOV lock would prevent aim down sights from shifting, but it doesn't... however it should come in handy for them cutscenes in VR, which originally felt like having your head shoved in a telephoto lens.

I was going to assume they'd have done this for performance reasons, but the increased FOV causes absolutely no problems.

Thanks for this awesome tool.

PS: 4:3 and 5:4 aspects would also definitely help for the VorpX VR users.

I've made a tutorial video for those wishing to use the FOV Trainer with VorpX, giving in-game settings that cooperate well with the F6/FOV10 (120 degree I believe) option.

CivilWolf if you're interested I included footage of an issue with the FOV lock, where for the purposes of VR, the "tug of war" between the game and the FOV lock causes a quick zoom in & out that is pretty stiff on the senses. 4:3 and 5:4 AR's would help, but I wonder if the black bars can be made to completely go away. At this point I just bow to the game's insistance on 16:9.



Thanks for updating this! It's going to make a whole lot of VR users happy!

This is working great, thanks a lot CivilWolf. Hope you're ready for December when the last DLC hits and breaks the trainer again :lolno:
If I could just run it in silent mode, and not have to use screenie-grabbing F12 as FOV lock, that'd be ace.

Late reply but: you still need to hex-edit the exe first. Maybe the trainer should mention this btw...

Open re7.exe in hex editor, search for 398EE33F, replace with your AR i.e 8EE31840 for 3440x1440 or 26B41740 for 2560x1080.
This removes the black bars once and for all, then you can use the trainer to fix the AR in-game.

Hey folks,

It seems the Hex Edit for 3440x1440 in conjunction with the CE Trainer works, but only when the Re7 client is in borderless windowed mode. If you are running the game in full screen the trainer does not work. Anyone know if there is a way around this? as I loose about 20-30 fps in borderless windowed mode.

in 21:9 at 3440x1440 FOV 8 seems to be the closest FOV setting to what is standard in the 16:9 default. Correct?

If I'm wrong, which FOV setting is closest to default 16:9?

If I'm not mistaken... Default 16:9 FOV is actually 80, so it should be 96.86 in 43:18. The trainer's "FOV 5" being 95 should be pretty close to a pixel-perfect Hor+ screen change.
Should you consider the baseline for FOV to be 90, then it should be 106.69 in Ultrawide so somewhere between "FOV 7" (105) and "FOV 8" (110).

I have no problem using the trainer in fullscreen mode; it's the "quick" hex edit that has no effect on fullscreen. The "complete" hex edit might be what you need. Check out this post if you dare.

This tool applies a patch to the game's executable file that fixes the letterbox/pillarbox issues on wide and narrow resolutions.

The use of an FOV tool with this patch is highly recommended!

This patcher supports Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour.

[Instructions]
    1. Unzip and launch the patcher.
    2. Enter your screen width and height. (or aspect ratio: 16:9 - width = 16, height = 9)

In the trainer you will need to set the aspect ratio to 5.33333333333

I haven't had that issue yet.
Close all cheat engine processes with Task Manager. Then start the trainer and the game again.

If the problem continues, maybe the process name is causing the issue. I'll see if there is a way to change that for exported trainers.

Just wanted to add this without making my other posts even more messy.

The aspect ratio patcher works by seeking to an offset in the .exe and replacing the four Hex values at that offset.
When the game is updated, the aspect ratio value's positions will most likely change. So if I am unable to update the patcher, I made the patcher updatable.(Not like anything will happen to me or anything, just playing it safe)


[Creating a Patcher Update File]

If you want to update the FOV value offsets yourself, you will have to first create and place a file titled "RE7PatcherUpdate.dat" into the same folder as the patcher.

In RE7PatcherUpdate.dat there must always be 8 values, one on each line, each represents an offset in decimal form. The first 4 are for the Main Game, the second 4 are for the Teaser Demo.

My preferred way to find the offset is to load the re7.exe into HxD, and go to View->Offset base->Decimal. From there you can do a Hex search for "39 8E E3 3F". The other HEX values should also be very close so you probably don't have to search for them.
The order in which you should find and list their Offset is:
"39 8E E3 3F"
"00 00 80 41"
"00 00 10 41"
"00 00 20 41"

If you are unsure about which offset to choose from each group it is from the first HEX from each. For example: 39's offset says 64692, list that and go to the next Hex sequence.

Done!

The patcher will display "--Updated Offsets!--" at the top, if the .dat file is found in the same folder.

Yup, I can confirm the aspect ratio patcher together with FOV trainer makes this game quite enjoyable in triple wide.

A little finicky, I need to Alt Enter x3 to get it to work correctly, but that sequence works each time. I have to recycle the sequence sometimes if I go into the options menu. Otherwise the lighting effects are flickering. (pretty sure it has something to do with Nvidia surround SLI),

I haven't figured out if I need to run the FOV trainer each time. After getting it working I haven't wanted to close the game just yet.

FMVs, Action prompts, menu and map etc are stretched, but useable.

I'm pretty happy. Civ do you have a donate link?

I had a similar issue when I had two 780ti's in SLI. Since I upgraded to a single card, I haven't noticed any flickering yet.

I actually had a little success with scaling the HUD in an unreleased script few months ago. It was possible to scale the HUD to the proper width(one screen wide), but it was "left aligned", so the HUD would only appear on the leftmost screen of a triple monitor setup. If I can find and update that old cheat engine script, I'll post it as an attachment to this reply.

I think the issue is that most 21:9 screens are not true 21:9.
Try entering your screen's full resolution into the patcher.

Hopefully that works!
If that doesn't fix the issue, please post your resolution here so I can test it and fix the patcher. :)

Either I'm doing something wrong or the trainer doesn't work for me - when pressing F4 in game, it just stretches game a little bit vertically, but the black bars on sides are still present (I have 2560x1080 display)

To get rid of the pillarboxing, you will have to patch the game with the patcher here:

The trainer only affects the rendered aspect ratio and the FOV.

I added my screens resolution into the patcher (2560x1080) and it does fill the screen but the HUD is not matching up, anyway to fix it? Thanks in advance for any reply on this :)

Not at the moment.

There is probably a way to fix it, but I have not found it yet. Someone with more experience with this stuff may be able to figure it out though.

Solid stuff, confirmed working at 10500x1440 ! And 3440 too. At the other end of the spectrum, ARs lower than 1:1 are laways letterboxed so tallscreen is a no-go. But that's just a fact, not a request...

Thanks a lot for the continued support. I would've uninstalled this game long ago if it weren't for your fixes. Now I have my Xmas time horror game+dlc all ready for Ultrawide and I'm happy !

CivilWolf: Smart people like you amaze me. Thanks. I was sad though to see the HUD in Not A Hero is unscalable? With everything set properly using patcher and trainer, 2/3 of the HUD sits offscreen at the bottom in 3440x1440 (unless I've messed something up). Any known fix for scaling the HUD? And I feel terrible asking considering everything you've already done...but not terrible enough to not inquire anyway!

EDIT: No worries. I turned the HUD off in the menu and stumbled my way through. I didn't realize the Not A Hero DLC was that short....(and not all that good--why the hell is there a Halo style HUD in an RE game anyway?). Again thanks for your efforts.

Here are a few steps:

1. Download and Patch the game with the tool here: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=31880&start=240
*You must enter your screen's height and width*

2. Download and run this trainer then enter your desired FOV, ignore the Aspect Ratio edit box: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=31880&start=230
*An FOV around 135 should be good enough* Your values are saved automatically.

3. Make sure the trainer is running then start the game in borderless mode or press Alt+Enter if the game does not fit the screen at launch.

4. Press F1, F2, or F3 to apply your FOV.

Unfortunately trainer doesn´t work propperly. i got 7680x1440 now but it´s zoomed in. Your trainer is running but F1, F2, F3, F4 doesnt change anything.

Is there any way to get that work with hex edit?

Not that I know of.

Check if an anti-virus program could be blocking the trainer and add an exception for it.(You could also temporarily turn off the anti-virus)
*That was the issue for someone using one of my trainers before*

Also, the menu will always look zoomed in.

Exception added and also antivir turned off, but still same problem :( Thanks anyway CivilWolf!

Hex editing to 3440 x 1440 worked. What to do for 7680 x 1440 with hex editor?

Ever used calc.exe ? 3840/1080=3.555555555555556 :clap: But you don't even need that if you used RE7_Widescreen_Patcher.exe as you should.

Heya, kind of off-topic so sorry.

On the matter of the Resident Evil 2 Remake, the demo is out and I've been fiddling with it. It uses the same engine as 7 does so I assumed that the same method CivilWolf used could be employed to remove the black bars from my 16:10 aspect ratio. I tried to use CivilWolfs patcher and just renamed re2.exe to re7.exe and then back to re2. It seems it patched successfully but the game would not launch.

I am a bit of a noob when it comes to this sort of thing but I looked around in the .exe with a hex editor and tried to change some values to no avail. My goal here is to just get a fix set up for when the actual game releases.

I'd like to ask if you or anyone else could share a manual method to apply your fix so I could mess with that.

Hello there!

I hadn't played all the DLCs for this game yet, and decided to give them a go now with all the RE:2 hype going on. The last time I played this game, CivilWolf's patcher and trainer worked perfectly for me.
However, it seems the game has been updated (there was an update today actually) and the patcher does not seem to work anymore. After applying it, the game just doesn't open. Reverting to the backed up .exe works fine.

They removed Denuvo from the game so I'm guessing the exe has probably changed somewhat, making the patching method incompatible. Can anyone point me to where I can hex-edit the exe myself?

I am also having issues with the widescreen patcher after the game was recently updated. Anybody have any advise on how to I would be able to play the game 2560 x 1080? I have tried hex-edit but game won't launch after altering the values. Any help would be much appreciated.

the game has been updated to remove denuvo. it broke the fov trainer as well as the widescreen patcher :(

hope @CivilWolf is still around and can update the trainer and patcher.

I was wondering wtf was going on.
When I first purchased this game I was hyped. When it came ofc I suffered through the black bars and chose a lower res. God awful.
When I first played it and immediately noticed the widescreen black bars bullshit I was fucking pissed.
I've sat around for 2 hours not noticing they updated their game recently making the fix for the widescreen support of this forum obsolete.
I'm so fucking pissed. Not at this community. This community has shed some light toward a heaven I dreamed of.
Please help with a fix for this!!!
I have 16:10 Aspect Ratio 1920x1200
Please m8! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is this a thing? Why do other games like overwatch and gta get their shit right when capcom always half asses it like EA. but even EA has support for aspect ratios.

overwatch @ 21:9 is a joke and blizzard is hard headed and wont support proper 21:9. its sucks. so i have to play @ 2560x1440 (pillarboxed) on my 3440x1440

Sorry for taking so long. I had accidentally formatted the drive with all my cheat tables a few months back and had to remake the trainer from almost scratch. This is what I have so far.

Im a little confused as i try to move the .DAT file into the patcher (winRAR) folder and it wont allow me to do so. Ive also tried moving the patcher.exe and the .dat file into a new folder together. Im a bit lost and limited on skill im afraid.

On launch the patcher looks for the update file in the same folder.
If it finds an update file it will update the offsets and print out "--Updated Offsets!--" at the top of the console window.

You must extract both RE7_Widescreen_Patcher.exe and RE7PatcherUpdate.dat file into the same folder.

thanks so much!!! FOV and Aspect Ratio Patcher works!!!! 3440x1440 looks great :)

FOV trainer works but for some reason, i have to open it after i launch the game. if i have it open then launch the game, when i press F2 to activate my fov, it does nothing and a error window opens with some error messages (error window is LUA. probably a debug window ? ) but if i close it out and just open it again it works fine.

Nicely played old boy.

It didn't work initially. I then verified the integrity of game files, acquired a missing one and tried again. Put the two extracted files in one folder - Updated offsets - and bingo!

What would you recommend (optimum) FOV for 3440x1440 without to much fish eye distortion? Is the default set at 90? Thanks guys

there is no drm in RE7 anymore. that was what this update was for. it removed denuvo. right not its just running steam drm which really is not much of a drm being that its easy bypassed

issue you're having probably something else. maybe you dont have all the .NET frameworks installed that are needed for the trainer to work. or something else?

This worked I ran the patcher entered my resolution. Entered the game didn't seem to work until I hit Alt+Enter.
I got out of the game. To try and get the FOV trainer running
Then.....
I ran into some problems.
First and foremost, It locked my game on steam?
recognized I was fucking with the exe by using that patcher?
I uninstalled the game then tried reinstalling it that's when it locked it when I came back to check on my re-installation.

I even tried updating it, wouldn't budge.
Second the FOV trainer fails unfortunately

Causes a EXE error loops only way to make it stop was to sign off. Wasn't going to waste time in the task manager.

I'm going to try and reinstall it one more time and delete registry files and main location folder.

What .NET framework would I need to make that trainer work?
I swore I installed one of those a while back I dont remember which version.
I can't even find them installed my add remove programs. I thought they get put into there when their installed.
I know Windows 10 comes with it preinstalled a shitty version anyway.

LMAO Avast did it. Sarcasm enabled "Love how it prompts that their was a ""Virus"" on my pc"
I was a bit worried. At this point with support with widescreen gaming though my faith is a bit restored by the community.

Thanks for being patient guys! As far as I have tested this new version of the trainer no longer has errors.

The trainer was failing to attach to the game's process if launched first, keeping the scripts from being activated. The lua script was attempting to use global variables that should've been allocated and initialized with the scripts. Rookie mistakes!

Thanks for the update CivilWolf!
Turns out this latest trainer works perfectly. I checked in to see if this solution was still possible and was going to update my VorpX tutorial in the case too many things had changed, but it turns out aside for a change of user interface the trainer is still the go-to solution for this.

Also I should note it seems the FOV "fighting / tug of war" issue is indeed completely gone!

Hi.
Are the controller prompt buttons during gameplay squished somewhat with this mod or am I doing the 21:9 fix wrong?

The trainer was failing to attach to the game's process if launched first, keeping the scripts from being activated. The lua script was attempting to use global variables that should've been allocated and initialized with the scripts. Rookie mistakes!
