Nice to see that kind of backer interest in what could be a disruptive addition to a budding technology, but I'd expect everyone will be all too happy to tiptoe around "the debate" at least until the final product is released... widely adopted... and dangerous enough to Rift/Vive sales to actually set things in motion.
Frankly I used to think VR as a whole was going to open the industry's eyes on all things widescreen - put an end to Vert- screen change, make FOV sliders the norm, maybe revolutionize UI architecture and so on, in 2D and VR games alike. Alas it seems what happens in VR stays in VR because every single "niche market" technology has to reinvent "their" wheel constantly. Same thing happening with shiny new Ultrawide vs. good old Eyefinity/Surround. Nobody in hardware or software development has a global vision of this kind of issues.
Wait and see, but mostly wait, right ?
