I have a EVGA 980 TI that runs lovely for me, i run most of my games smoothly at 21:9 aspect ration 3440 x 1440. However when the hype about the CTX 1080 came out weeks ago i decided to place my card on auction to sell. Unexpectedly, i got a buyer at $500, after amazon takes off their cut im left with about $455. ive been reading the forum lately and it seems the difference between the two cards are marginal. I would need need an additional $250 if i decided to go with the evga version of the 1080 that cost 650. Unfortunately, they dont have the card in stock now. im very conflicted. i dont know if i would cancel the sale and keep my card or just sell the card and wait with no card in my pc till the evga 1080 gets back in stock. thats like torture to me but i know i will never get that amount 455 for my card again if i dont sell now. what do you guys think?

You would probably be look at between 20-40% improvement depending on the game, and assuming no other bottle necks exist in your system, look at the bench marks from a number of different reviews to get an idea (don't just trust one sites results). As for if it's worth it, that's really your call. Also, people are expecting that eventually there will be a GTX 1080 Ti (there is no proof of this yet as far as I'm aware) so some people are waiting for that.

Sell it!
There MIGHT be a lot of other people looking to get a cheap high end Card from last Generation.
But most likely not.
Especially since the AMD 480 has about 80-90% of the performance from a 980ti but costs 300$

So of you can survive without a GPU for 3-8weeks, or have an old one lying around that you could use. Best price you can sell it.... i'd say....

I would wait for the next gen after the 1080. Your 980Ti and 6GB vram at only 3440 x 1440 will keep up with the new games until then and you don't have to fork the extra $250.
