So.... I have been doing some computer upgrades over that past couple weeks. One of those items was a video card upgrade. Well, that got me thinking.... I have been happily using a TH2G Digital with 3 - Dell 19" Monitors (3/4). I'm happy with the setup, although I have explored some changes. Thais a separate question. If I stay with this current setup I was wondering if I should ditch the TH2G? IT seem that video card now support 3 monitor out of the box, sure mine does (GTX970 oc). Is the an upside to just using the card, no TH2G? It the an upside to using the TH2G instead of card only? If one was to use just the card what are my connection concerns in terms of adapters. My monitors are all DVI. My video card has 1xDVI-I, 1xDVI-D, 1xHDMI, 1xDisplayPort. |

If you use the TH2Go, you can still add 3 more monitors, where as you would be limited to only using 4 monitors without the TH2Go. |

For Surround, you only need the most basic HDMI-to-DVI or DP-to-DVI cable. No fancy adapter required and any combination of outputs works as you can verify here: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technol ... quirements (GPU Model: 970 | SLI Mode: Single GPU | Surround Mode: 2D Surround | Orientation: Portrait) One great advantage of Surround is "real" bezel compensation: more pixels to make up for the physical gaps between monitors, whereas TH2G shrinks the picture instead and you get black bars on the far sides. On the other hand TH2G being separate hardware is a bit more robust on the software side, but Surround is not far behind and you can have a centered taskbar, windows that maximize on a single monitor, a hotkey to "peek" at the bezel gap area etc. To ditch or not to ditch depends on your day-to-day usage and habits I guess, but you can and definitely should give Surround a whirl. |
