Post subject:  Planning to buy new Gfx card

I'm planning to upgrade my PC. While it has enough power to every game I own, none of them are Crysis.

I've not done any (serious) upgrading for some 18 months, and the older pieces of hardware are beginning to show it's age. I'm running a Geforce 9600GT which I've had since March 2009. (According to reviews, it's was a Mid range card in 08.)

Since I've got limited funds. I'm looking for decent upgrade to what I've got.. and that would allow me to upgrade to a triple head setup later.

I've got a ASUS Motheboard M5A78L. It has two PCIex1 card slots and 1 PCIex16 card slots, additional to three standard PCI card slots. (One being used by my Wifi card.) I am aware many of the triple head setups use 2 Gfx cards.

Also on the tables for upgrade is swapping a 300GB HDD which is older than the Gfx card for a SSD.

i wouldn't go lower than GTX660 or AMD 7870 for Triple Monitor gaming!

Yowsers..

This is cheapest GTX660 I can find: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-asus ... l-dvi-dp-h

If I'm reading the stats right this bad boy can do a triple head and a extra on it's own.

The AMD is cheaper: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi- ... i-hdmi-mdp

But I've got the doubts about the ability.

By the way, I live not far from Bolton, where Scan's store is.

click on [Hardware] go /Reviews & Benchmarks and there you will find.

Sadly WSGF doesm't get nVIdia cards for reviews :(

But be aware that there is a difference between GTX660 and GTX 660Ti, also there is a HD7870, 7870 GHz edition and a HD7870XT with a Tahiti (7950) chip on it.

I agree with the above. If you're going between 660 and 7870 i would go with the 7870, and if you're going to spend that money you might as well pick up the 7870 XT since it's basically a slimmed down overclocked 7950.

The top one is budgetwise interesting since it's cheaper and you get Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite (Never Settle Reloaded). But the Sapphire runs cooler and quieter (the club3d i hear can be fairly noisy).

Talking about bang for buck i dont think you can beat the 7870XT at this time :)

This is an interesting review of the Club3D (written in Dutch but you can view the benchmarks and scroll down to click the games you want to see), interesting because they compare the cards on triple screen resolution as well:

Performance wise the Sapphire should perform basically the same, either wipes the floor with a 660(Ti too).
