| Post subject: | One of my Monitors flashes on and off. |
I don't know if this is the best way to describe my situation, but I will try my best. First off I am semi-new to the world of widescreen gaming, and (I guess) since eyefinity is new(ish) and it is also (in my opinion) unstable, there isn't much support for my situation in particular. Due to the fact that my situation is similar to other problems but not exactly the same, I cannot seem to find a solution to my problem. So here goes... I have a 3x1 (from left to right) DVI-DVI-mDP Setup all running on an XFX Radeon HD 6970. I have had many issues ever since I setup the display. I updated all the drivers to the latest version and ccc is updated to its latest version. But somehow this card plays tricks on me and it is extremely illogical to me. I will have the two DVI's connected and try to flip them to see if it will fix anything, expecting the two monitors to show each other's displays.. but it actually displays the same desktop without any configuring which was rather annoying. Finally around a month ago I got everything working fine. [My biggest problem was that I couldn't get the profiles working properly to setup an extended display and an eyefinity display with key macros.] So it worked great for about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden, my LEFT (DVI) display started flashing when I would switch from one profile to another, and it would flash 3 or four times. Every time I would switch back and forth. Then I realized that when the monitors would go into power saving mode, when I would wake the computer, only the RIGHT (mDP) and Center (DVI) displays would turn on, the LEFT (DVI) would stay off, and I would have to put it in sleep mode multiple times for the monitor to wake up. It has been a week of this constant battle and I cannot seem to find a solution whatsoever. Everything online has to do with the mDP and DP but it doesn't seem like anyone else has the same issue as me. I have made sure everything is updated and I even tried making new extended and eyefinity profile desktops and I have no luck. Can anyone please shed some light on my situation. It would be greatly appreciated. |

| Post subject: | You say you use Catalyst |
You say you use Catalyst "Presets" (profiles) to switch from one to another setup? Did you Update any Driver in this Time? CCC will fuck up the Profiles if you do! Delete the Presets and create new ones! |

I was having this issue before I had updated anything. After I started having trouble was when I updated the drivers. |

sorry i'm no nativ english speaker and you're post is kinda complicated.... so you DO have problems while Switching CCC profiles ? If you have some coding knowledge you can try and write Switch for yourself! http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=358302 |

| Post subject: | Now that it has started |
Now that it has started flashing you have tried swapping the centre screen for the left one (to rule out the screen) and swapped the centre cable for the left cable (to rule out the cable). I would then swap both the cable and the monitor from the centre to the left, to rule out the port on the card. It would seem that it could be 1 of 2 issues: 1) Faulty DVI cable, Faulty monitor, Faulty output on graphics card. 2) You don't say if you are using a mDP > DVI adaptor for the right screen, but there is a good chance if there is an issue with that (the card would think you don't have an active DP connection) the card wouldn't allow the 3rd monitor to fire up, as without a DP connection of some sort, you can't get 3 screens to work. Just a couple of ideas. I hope I interpreted your post properly. |
