| Post subject: | Checking in before I take the plunge |
I am on the verge of going from forum lurker to multi-monitor participant, and I just wanted to get any critical comments on the setup I'm looking at before I pull the trigger. I'm thinking 3 of these: http://dealzon.com/deals/dell-ultrasharp-u2312hm-23-inch-monitor while they're on sale. I'd run all 3 from a single Radeon 5870. My understanding is that, among those who have a preference, IPS is favored. I know it's largely subjective, but what difference would you expect performance-wise between the above monitor and this one: http://dealzon.com/deals/dell-s2330mx-23-inch-led-monitor ? I know the cheaper one does not have native displayport, but other than that...? |

| Post subject: | Better color, fantastic |
Better color, fantastic viewing angles, consistent color, many options, virtually no light-bleeding, lower power consumption. None of that is subjective. It's the image quality and color consistency that make them great for multi-monitor, TN's color gets wonky even at slight angles, and as you are surely aware, the top and bottom edges darken quite a bit. After buying and using one of those Dell IPS panels for a couple years now, I can say that i will never buy another TN panel again. |

| Post subject: | The only thing "wrong" with |
The only thing "wrong" with these current IPS screens is the aggressive anti glare coating, but not much you can do about it, without going to a Samsung A850 panel (and taking the backlight bleed lottery), or the Apple Cinema, or the Hazro. The anti-glare makes text on white backgrounds appear sparkly and "noisy". Some people are really sensitive to it, others not so much. My current screen is glossy, no anti-glare at all, and I control the lighting in the room accordingly, my GF's 2211 annoys the hell out of me with its anti-glare. But I don't really think you can go wrong with those screens at that price, they are built well, have basically no input lag, and a good warranty. Good luck! |
