Post subject:  I need help from the WSGF

I recently sold my 300zx and live in Wisconsin ( Winter) YUCK!!!

So i decided to use some cash towards a nice setup. I have been drooling for years to do a surround gaming setup.

I ordered a few Items. But not sure if I made the right choice yet. I might send some stuff back.
here are the following items i ordered ( they will all be here on Thursday)

Intel I7-2700K --- 369.99
EVGA Z67 FTW K2 --- 289.99
16 GB Corsair XMS3 PC-10666 --- 94.99
ThermalTake GT Level 10 ( snow edition ) --- 199.99
EVGA 590 GTX Classified --- 749.99
Corsair AX1200 --- 279.99
3- Asus 27" VE276Q --- 294.99

I now have this for a build:
I7-930
Corsair H50
EVGA X58 3-way SLI
24gb G. SKill PC-10666
EVGA 560 SC 2GB
Hannspree 26" LCD
Antec P180
WD Black 1TB (2) Raid 0
also WD 3TB and 2TB drives
LG DVD burner
I am thinking to spend the extra to buy 2- 580's and perhaps different monitors.

I have a Mayline Varitask Stealth Desk to put this stuff on.

I am looking for some of your opinions. Should i just stay with my I7-930? I am so confused.

I would keep what you have, change the PSU for the AX1200 (if it doesn't fit you can swap the case too), and I would get a pair of GTX580's or 6970's as a second choice for the money. And of course, the 3 screens. The difference between a i7 930 and the SB setup won't be worth the cost, believe me!

Post subject:  You're doing a step-down in

You're doing a step-down in VRAM, as that 590 has only 1.5GB of 'real' VRAM (each GPU has half of the advertised RAM). In SLI, VRAM is treated like HDDs in RAID1 - mirrored, not striped. ;)

I agree with Gilly, also - stick with that 930 for a bit longer, perhaps overclock it a little, maybe get a pair of the 2.5GB GTX570s or the 3GB GTX580s and some good screens, like Dell U2410's or U2412s or whatever the new model is. Potentially, you could even look at three of the U2711. But I don't think the move to Sandy Bridge is worth it right now.
