Lo. I've searched the net but havent been able to get a straight answer. I have a high end amp with both optical and analogue inputs but is there any real difference between using the 5.1 analogue inputs or the dolbly digital live pack with an optical cable for gaming? Mainly positional audio or quality? |

I go with optical. Should be better quality, and one little cable is so much easier to deal with. No reason not to use optical, really. |

Depends on the quality of the DAC on the soundcard in comparison to the quality of the input and DAC on the reciever you are connecting to. With the very best soundcards you might get better performance bypassing a lower end reciever, with the cheaper soundcards you will probibly get worse performance. All depends on what kit you are running. |

Using sb titanium and on Onkyo TX-SR803 amp so i'm guessing the onkyo will have better dac's but cant be sure as i havent found specific specs for the dac's on both. But i guess the only real way is to hook up both optical and analogue and hear the difference. |
