could be a driver issue.

Definitely try graphics drivers first.

My father couldn't get his 225BW to go above 1680x1050 when he first got it. When I troubleshooted for him it turned out his graphics drivers were years old (integrated) and couldn't support resolutions that high.

i have 9800gt and the same thing from driver 196.21 to 260.99.. forcing 1440x900 with powerstrip but the thing is i have scaling issues i think. If i run gta iv with 1440x900 and 16:10 ratio i gain hor but everything stretches vertically(thin and tall) if i change to 5:4 i lose hor but everything comes to shape. i think i should gain hor and everything be normal since it is widescreen.. wtf.. irly need help on this

P.S: same with Just Cause 2 if i play at 1280x1024 all good and if i switch to 1440x900 stretches and clearly from the minimap going oval

Not mine, but someone has posted one here:

which might work.

I'd suggest loading it in Phoenix EDID Designer and checking that the details it shows match what the manual says your monitor is capable of.

Make sure you've exhausted every other possibility before you start messing around with the monitor EDID, because there is plenty of potential for screwing things up permanently. That said, I've just managed to get my Samsung B2330H working properly for the first time by altering its EDID myself.

I believe that the current graphics card drivers from both ATI and Nvidia let you override the resolutions specified in the EDID, so you might want to give that a go first.

Googling "Samsung wrong EDID" does suggest that quite a few people have run into similar problems from this maker. It would be interesting to know whether that's just lousy quality control or something a bit more complicated going wrong.

i did run moninfo and found out that my edid is for a 17" non wide monitor.....

i did flash it with no results of change thow and i reverted back to original to be safe. Same thing running these games and other prolly in 1440x900 results in squishing, if i run in windowed mode i manage to scale the window so its not squished but i also have to play in a less vertical size window wich is bad. i cant understand how others having 19" wide manage to play games with right scale.

this kind of stretch feels like the screen is pushed to the middle from the sides to get more hor space and resulting in thngs goin thin and tall
