| Post subject: | Help - need EDID info for Samsung B2330H |
Hi, I'm hoping someone else with a Samsung B2330H monitor can post a copy of the EDID info for their screen (ideally for the DVI connection) using Monitor Asset Manager from http://www.entechtaiwan.com Mine seems to have the EDID information entirely wrong - maximum resolution is given as 1280x1024 rather than 1920x1080. I'd like to try reflashing with the correct information. In case anyone has found a similar problem, I've posted my current EDID info below. Interestingly, googling for "SAM0161" and "EDID" finds a few people have different models of Samsung monitor with exactly the same wrong EDID. I wonder if this could be some kind of fallback the monitor gives out if the EDID EEPROM gets corrupted...? Yeah, it's weird that this same wrong EDID seems to pop up on different Samsung monitors - maybe they pay a guy at the factory to drop one wrong chip in every production run :) The Samsung monitor drivers for my screen do seem to add a line for the correct native resolution to the Windows registry. However since my screen had the wrong model code (SAM0161 instead of SAM064A) in the EDID, plug and play never detected my monitor and never fully installed the correct drivers (running the .exe file to install the Samsung drivers seems to unpack them, but they won't install for the monitor until it's detected correctly). Nobody answered my request for a copy of the correct EDID for my monitor, so I ended up writing my own and manually changing the EDID on the monitor, as described in this post: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21747 I'd suggest that you download the free version of Powerstrip, and see whether that lets you force the monitor to its native resolution. If so, you might find that a good enough solution. Once you've done this, Powerstrip will also give you the timing info you'd need to create your own EDID in Phoenix EDID Designer, which you'd need if you want to follow the (risky) path of reflashing the EDID in the monitor. yeah i actually searched and found the correct complete EDID as people had wrong EDIDs that belong to my monitor (model SAM03E1) i flashed it but i still think the monitor is recognized as a 5:4 monitor as the scaling seems wrong, as i explained in my topic here http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21781 i'm a bit angry right now cause we have to go through all this because samsung doesnt check their products prior to distribution |
