Hi

Looking for a bit of help if possible. I currently use the above monitor along with a Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb. Os is windows XP SP3

The native resolution for this monitor is 1680X1050 at 60hz. I have been able to create a custom resolution of 1680X1050 at 75hz using the nvidia control panel and this works with no issues in windows.

The problem arises when i try to run counterstrike 1.6 (i know terrible game, very old etc, what can i say). I play using 800X600 with a fixed aspect ratio which gives me black bars down either side of the screen. When i load cs it would appear that for whatever reason the monitor reverts to its native resolution (1680X1050@60hz) and adjusts the image to the desired 800X600.

What i would like to know is there any way for me to stop this happening so i can play at 75hz in 800X600 with a fixed aspect ratio. I have tried reforce and powerstrip with no joy. Can the native resolution of this monitor be removed or adjusted in any way or is there a way to run games whereby the monitor does not switch back to its native?

Apologies if this is in the incorrect section.

Thanks for your time.

it sounds like monitor scaling is enabled, when its on it will strech the lower resolution image to the native resolution of your monitor.
the monitor scaling settings should be in your nvidia settings depending on your card and driver version.
there may also be a setting in your monitor itself also for scaling. usally make sure the settings for scaling in your monitor are disabled and use the nvidia settings to try and adjust what you need.
