I have a budget of $200 and am looking into getting a decent gaming LCD monitor. For that price range, I have settled on a 1920x1080 resolution, but can't decide which diagonal size to buy. All of the other specs except pixel pitch (obviously) are about the same. For my price range, I can go up to 23.6 inches.

What size should I get, considering that I sit at a desk about two and a half feet from the display?

Better to have one too large than too small.

I'm not sure how far i am from my 24", but i can almost touch the screen with my palm, arm stretched out.... and I feel i could stand to be a bit closer. it's all a matter of what you prefer.

There is no "one answer fits all", but the closest I can think of is that you need a screen that is large enough that you can read comfortably on the screen from where you sit. With this, I mean as far away as you can, while you still can read comfortably. How far this is, depends on your eyesight. :)

Go to a store where they have monitors on display and try it out. Getting a larger screen increases fatigue and comfort in the end, though it "feels cooler" to begin with on a larger screen.
