So, here I am with a beautiful screen I've had for two years. Yesterday the power button stopped working. It got stuck in, and no longer operates the on off function.

I phoned Tech support, new one on it's way that's sorted. But I worked for Dell I know it's a refurb they'll be sending me, and I know they will stuff me round with a shittier screen and I'll have to keep sending it back and forth till I get a decent one that I'm happy with.

Just a rant, cos I've been on the other side of the coin.

I'll keep this thread updated.

:(

Sorry to hear about that, maherie. My two 2405's are still being absolute troopers. :D

I do need to send that X51v PDA back for a fix, though (the 3 year warranty runs out in July, so I'd better get on it!) because the 'down' button on the 5-way nav-pad now works 1-out-of-every-4-goes. :(

the power button on my NEC screen is also flakey, but it does work. At the expense of saying anything obvious... cant you just unplug it/ switch it off at the wall? :P

Yea our 17 inch dell screen power button broke but still works, same style monitor as the dell 2405 in button style, one of the plastic tabs under it broke so now it can sort of be rotated as it is pushed, but once you know how to push it there are no issues with pushing it.

it still hasn't arrived. I can use power options in windows to send it into sleep mode when I'm not using it, but I'll claim the warranty cos it's there. I'll be such a nag about it, eventually I'll get a new one ;) I know it.

New one arrived, and it's rubbish - as expected. There's scratches all over the casing, dent's out of the stand, and it's blue. The screen won't show correct colour profiles.

On the phone to Dell Tech Support now. Organising another swap. I'll let one more come out and If I'm not happy with it, I'll be demanding a new one.

Dell. I hate thier refurb monitor policy.

Yikes. That sounds bad...

Well, having worked for them, you know all the tricks they'll try, I guess. :)

Blows my mind how refurbs can very some people say buy a refurb it will be like new but cheaper (apple has a decent reputation for both ipods and computers as refurbs) then you have this end of the spectrum...

So second refurb, and guess what? It's colour and appearance is actualy worse than the first. So currently I have 3 2408's here (only one video card so only two working at the moment)

It's so bad it has a gauge, not a scratch, a gauge out of the screen. WTF how the fuck is this a "refurb" not to mention it is still asset tagged with massive stickers all over it from the company that sent it back in the first place.

I've had enough and have called in the big guns (Sales team leaders down in Dell sydney in Dell Public and Global accounts) to sort out a new monitor. I might try my luck and push for a 3008. LOL.

Dell product when it works = AWESOME.

Dell as a company for consumers = PAINFUL.

Useless support, shitty policies, and don't care attitudes of anyone you talk to in customer care/sales.

Wow... never thought I'd type or say that.
