So I figure that at some point 4k60hz monitors are going to be available and affordable for use on high end surround configs, what with Seiki's 39 inch 4k30hz unit sometimes dropping to $500 on Amazon on occassion. Such surround configurations are of course going to to be absolute torture on GPUs.

So I was thinking, even one 39 inch is going to fill a lot of field of vision in desktop use. Does scaling in nVidia surround work such that one could render at native with a narrower aspect ratio to bring the GPU load down? IE. run a game at 9600x2160 or 7680x2160, then have the GPU add black bars to bring it up to the 11520x2160 res of the monitors?

I know I've had video cards that can do this on single monitor in the past, I'm wondering if it works in multi-monitor.
