| Post subject: | 3 Monitors For Surround & 1 For Desktop ? |
I have just purchased the Obutto R3volution gaming cockpit for flight sims etc. I have my 3 screens setup on that for surround, but I don't always want to sit in the cockpit to do do everything. I have a 4th monitor which is on a seperate desk, and I would like to use this for general desktop use etc, without having to keep disabling the the surround setup on the Obutto cockpit. I have tried to configure my 680GTX to do what I want, but no luck unfortunately. The 2 options that I have, would be to get another pc to run this screen seperately,or would another graphics card running alongside my 680GTX cure this problem ? |

The fourth monitor has to be connected to the displayport, otherwise it won't work. |

Ok,thanks for that...... At the moment my surround is connected by DVI \ DVI \ Displayport & my 4th display is connected by Hdmi. So I will swap them round,so that the 4th display has the Displayport & the surround has the Hdmi. |

Ok,I just tried to setup the 3 screens with DVI>DVI>HDMI which worked fine, Only problem is, wheneverI I try to connect my 4th display with the displayport connector in the back of the graphics card,it completely knocks out the 3 screens in surround ? |

Please read this thread: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=24792. In there you can find a couple of things you can try. |

I bought a Nvidia GTX210 (very cheap and DX11 for Win7) to run my 4th monitor and after I upgrade my 2x 570's in a year or so I will be using one of them to run my 4th monitor and probably set the Nvidia driver to also use this GPU for physics calculations. Take some load off the main display cards. I haven't had any issues with this setup. |

I think this would be an easier solution.......buy another graphics card. So if I add another graphics card alongside the one I have already, which is running the surround, I should be able to have a desktop enviroment on my 4th display ? |

The way I "solved" it was running the 4th display of the integrated graphics. This works fine and basically the same as running the 4th monitor of a second graphics card. Keep in mind that you need to buy an cheap gpu from nVidia, otherwise you have to run both drivers from AMD and Nvidia, which is a very bad idea. I would not recommend running PhysX of the second cheap gpu, because that can actually diminish performance instead of increasing it. |
