| Post subject: | Nvidia 2D Surround Questions - Reinstalling drivers |
I just updated the bios of my video cards (EVGA GTX 580 SC in SLI) to a new bios. Followed the directions regarding uninstalling the drivers (driver sweeper, etc) and reinstall them. All went fairly well but I have noticed 2 things since doing this. 1. In 2D surround when I get to the windows login screen my primary monitor (in the middle) is active and the 2 outside ones are not. They use to be prior to the update with a portion of the login screen visable. For some reason I cannot use my mouse at this point to navigate to my login but can use the keyboard. It will load to windows in 2D Surround but it takes longer since I think it is detecting the screens on the left and right. Anyway to get my original logon screens working properly? 2. I had to of course reconfigure 2d Surround and got that working but with the exact same bezel adjustment I get different resolutions than last time. Not sure why? I can understand if I entered a different number it may be different but I didn't. Everything seems fine. The bezel adjusted resolution is 5970 x 1080. Anyone have any thoughts on why the bezel adjusted resolutions are different this time around with the same adjustments? Using Nvidia 263.09 drivers. They had been working well for me. I assume this has more to do with the reinstallation of the drivers that the bios update. Perhaps there is some special method to updating drivers in 2D Surround that I am unaware of. Thanks Mark |

Driver version is the same? I can only think that the updated BIOS has optimised something. |

Yep, the drivers were the same. I ended up going back to the prior bios and that seemed to help. By the way is there a recommended way to reinstall drivers with 2D surround? It seemed to work better to disable SLI and then unplug the two unused monitors first. Reinstalled the drivers (driver sweeper, etc) and then reconnected the other two monitors. Then configured the 2d surround. Thanks Mark |

Well, when I went Surround I went the whole hog, so to speak. Switched from ATi to nVidia; uninstalled ATi drivers, turned off. Pulled card. Stuffed in two GTX460s. Plugged all three monitors in. Booted. Installed drivers. Hit 'Surround'. Worked fine. But switching from 258.96 to any newer driver causes me tons of headaches. :( |
