Links to all the publicly available information. Some of these may be redundant as they will be referencing the same NVIDIA Press Release.

http://blogs.nvidia.com/ntersect/2010/01/surround-yourself-with-nvidia-3d-vision-technology.html

From NVIDIA Facebook page: "Fun Fact: Our new 3D Vision Surround lets you span your gaming desktop across 3 monitors! Even better, 3D Vision Surround will work with GF100 and GT200 (and yes, it works in 2D mode too)!"

While 3D Vision Surround will be launched with GF100 GPUs in Q1 this year, the good news is that 3D Vision is already supported in the GT200 family too!

does this mean only Fermi cards will do the(2d or 3d) surround part?

so many questions and few answers I know....

I interpete it as 3D Vision is supported in the GT200 now, while 3D vision surround (3 screens) come when Fermi is released and be supported on both the GT200's and Fermi. The link says:

# Uses GT200 and upcoming GF100 GPUs.

Since the requirements are:
NVIDIA GT200 or GF100 GPUs in SLI

I assume it means for 3D vision surround, since you can run 3D vision on a single card today.

so it's likely they are stating it that way because the :nudgenudge drivers havent been released to enable surround(through nvidia itself and not TH2G or SoftTH)for the (existing) 200 cards and the upcoming 100(fermi based) ?

sorry to be redundant, just that we're all hungry for info and are left to dissect what little info they gave us :P

Its likely, since Nvidia have advertised surround coming with Fermi. 3D vision support for now and 3D vision surround support when they release Fermi. :)

PS and I discussed in the other thread that Nvidia might bring mosaic SLI over from Quadro and thats a software solution that Nvidia could have introduced years ago to enable 3 screen support on even 8800 cards.

Edit:
Just found this link confirming that you need SLI for 3d vision surround:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Nvidia-3D-Surround,9394.html

Edit 2:

HardOCP on 3D vision surround:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/01/08/nvidia_3d_surround_multidisplay_gaming_editorial

Edit 3:
According to Techreport, Nvidia will add bezel management to 3d surround:
Nvidia says it plans to add a bezel correction feature to its drivers, which apparently wasn't working in the demos we saw at CES. That should help further the illusion.
