Yeah, the DVI version maxes out at 5040x1050@59Hz due to the limitation of the DVI spec. TH2GO can do 5760x1080 but you have to drop the refresh rate down to 50Hz to get in under the DVI Bandwidth cap. Finding monitors that are affordable that do that low of a refresh rate is very difficult, and I already spent too much money on the monitors I have.
I was looking to do 5760x1200@60Hz. Each of my monitors can do 1920x1200. I have two Nvidia 560Ti's that I can use for Nvidia Surround, or, I can SLI those bad boys and feed them into the Matrox, but again maybe Nvidia Surround matches an SLI setup for widescreen framerates, I don't no...so confusing.....
However, like you said, I'm very happy with the day to day computing with windows management with my TH2GO. Everything I want to do always just "works". Many games don't scale well or play well across large screens...Trying to scroll across a CoH screen with three monitors...HAHAHA, that's a funny thing to watch. So those games I scale back to just 1 monitor at 1920x1200. Matrox activates the center monitor, others go blank, like I said it just works.
However, some games, like Bioshock and Batman don't scale well with the Matrox, the FOV and menus are all screwed up, but I heard they scale correctly with Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround. Arghhh,......
Ah, decisions, decisions. Thanks for your opinion
