Hello all, I'm new to these forums and to multi-monitors in general. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. I wasn't sure if this should go here or in the Eyefinity section. I just recently added a second monitor a few weeks ago. My setup isn't state of the art or the latest and greatest. I currently have (2) Dell 2007WFP monitors on a AMD Radeon 5870, each resolution is 1680x1050, and combined is 3360x1050. I want to play Batman Arkham City w/ both monitors, but the only way for it to recognize it is to setup a Eyefinity display group. When I do so I can play the game at 3360x1050, but Batman is right in the middle of both monitors w/ the bezel in the way. I was wondering if there is a way to have him (the main display) on the left monitor as if I was playing on a single monitor, and the second monitor is just an "extension" of what would be on the right. I've tried the bezel adjustment, but that doesn't really do anything for my situation. If possible for gaming I'd like it to stretch to both monitors, but for the Windows environment I'd like to keep it as "Extend these displays". The reason being is I don't really like having a Eyefinity display group for Windows because when I maximize a window it stretches to both monitors, when I prefer it to just maximize to the monitor the window is currently in. Sorry if my request doesn't make any sense, as again I'm new to this. Thanks for any help or advice! |

Hi promise7 Don't worry, you're not the first one to wonder about "dual monitor gaming" (try googling that)... AFAIK there is no way to prevent the FOV of a Hor+ game to expand on both sides equally, but there may be a couple things you can try: - windowed mode Pretend you have a third monitor and force the game to run at 5040x1050, windowed. Then move the window to the side until Batman stands where you want him. It's a bit crude and your GPU will have to render more pixels than you can see, but it's pretty easy and you'll get a general idea of what you're aiming for. - SoftTH Using SoftTH 2b you can define a gigantic "virtual" resolution the game will run at, then position your monitors freely inside it. Requires more fiddling with software settings, but should give the best results. None of these require an Eyefinity group, obviously. |

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I can't change the resolution for the game to recognize anything higher than 1680x1050 unless I use Eyefinity, then it'll let me go to 3360x1050 max. I tried SoftTH, thank you for the link, but I haven't gotten it to work as of yet. I registered on their forum and posted a question since I'm not too advanced with coding so I don't know how well I can configure it on my own. |
