Post subject:  Hi, Yes you may use

Hi, :welcome

Yes you may use different cables.

On my rig using AMD cards, I am using 4 different cables for my 4 monitors...
Monitor 1*, stright DVI
Monitor 2*, passive DP to DVI
Monitor 3*, active DP to DVI
Monitor 4**, active DP to VGA.

* used for surround/eyefinity.
** used for addtional display.

FYI, HDMI = DVI video signal + Digital Audio, as such HDMI and DVI are compatible between each other with a small adaptor, essentially the video signal is the same for both.
