Post subject:  Triple Monitor Setup possible two two different cards

I ask because my system is apart at the moment and I want to try taking these 3 DVI monitors I have, setting them up in widescreen, and using an EVGA GTX 570 on the main one, and an EVGA GTX 460 on the side two. And i'm wondering if the GPU's will work side by side, or do they need to be the same, and is this an SLI must, or can they be ran separately? Thx

The only way you can do that is with SoftTH. You can download it (google it). The cards won't be working "side by side" however. The GTX570 will be rendering all the images on the display and only using the GTX460 as a display out. You'll only be getting the performance of the GTX570 in other words. Now you also need to know that it only works with a few games and only with DX9.

For "proper" Nvidia Surround you must have 2 matching cards in SLI and 3 monitors that all share the same native refresh rate, sync polarity and resolution.

i bet you could sell that 570, get another 460, run sli. have better performance than 1x 570 and have extra money left :D
of course the temptation to just get another 570 and sell the 460 will be hard to fight off hehe

lucky when I purchased the GTX 460 SE Card I got a second with it for SLI (was $110 with rebate, couldn't pass it up and was just getting into gaming). Upgraded to the single GTX 570 SC card later for an HDTV Gamer (570 is amazing, 460 SE's couldn't touch it even in SLI for rendering, but close in framerates), though here lately I got hooked into the idea for triple screen gaming, so to answer your question on the monitors - all three are same spec, LG Flatron L222's and luckily all are VESA mount.

For the meantime I suppose i'll just SLI the 460's, and wait for EVGA to drop the 570's down to around $275 or so and snag one, like March or May timeframe when the 600 series is released I guess? I'd drop bills in a heartbeat for the second card, but I'm ordering the Obutto Ozone Cockpit, Logitech G27 and locating a dash with center console that has about the same geometry as the Obutto, so it may take me till then to get everything ironed out.

460's actually 460 SE Cards :(

OC'd it up heavily to 818/1630/1900/1.025v with 275.33 Drivers, significant boost vs factory's 648/1296/1700 settings (570 still destroys it, framerates less though)

in SLI it got 51.3 FPS under Unigine (1080p 4xAA,2xAF) with a 4.7 OC on the 2600K (104.5 x47)

i didnt even know they made a SE, i assume like with most of nvidia SE they cut the balls off of them :P

cause i know 2x 460 standards will still rock a 570.. and by quite a bit in most benches. providing they benches use sli of course.
