The beta will be out this month, but what are the odds it will support surround? I really doubt it cause blizzard is pretty anal about making it "fair". But seeing how WoW worked, who knows. Did WC3 work?

I imagine their stance will be very measured on Starcraft, regardless of which way they decide. It's not that big a deal for WoW, but for starcraft there is a very active (serious) competitive community. America is to Baseball as South Korea is to Starcraft. :D

Personally, I don't think multimonitors is a big advantage in a RTS. Just played AOE3 the other day in eyefinity and it was more cumbersome than anything... (super stretched menu aside). The only awesome RTS in triple wide is Sins of a Solar Empire because you lean back and enjoy the view instead of managing your army all that much.

That said... I hope SC2 works with eyefinity even though it'll only be a novelty for me. Most likely going to go back to single monitor to play seriously.

Multi-mon isn't a big advantage in RTSes cause none of them have done it right.. the only game that has come close is Supreme Commander with its dual monitor support - you get 2 viewports, 1 per monitor. Unfortunately the secondary monitor was missing all the HUD elements.

Proper done multi-mon support would mean let people have as many viewports as they want by default split 1 per monitor. Then you could use one monitor just as a giant mini map, one perhaps for base building or any "watch spot" , and the middle one for all the action.

I have a friend who has tried SC2 in eyefinity and confirmed that it works. That being said it could still be vert- for all I know.

WC3 was stretched, but that was prior to widescreen.

What does all that vert- hoz- thing mean? I see it all the time.

I have it, and it would not detect my 5040x1050; however, i didn't try to force it either.

Even with distortion at both extremes, I think it´s and very considerable advantage, much more than in shooters (though less than flight sims).

In DoW2 and CoH, I still need to move frecuently the camera, and I can´t control perfectly units at the very left/right side of lateral mons, but I can watch way more of the terrain and get a better idea of what It´s happening now in the terrain, wich I think It´s a clearly advantage (in DoW2 In can see from corner to corner in some maps). For that, I sit way more ahead than usual for FPS. Peripheral vision is not important for strategy games, extended vision is.

Proper multimon would be better, of course, I agree with that.
