Decided to replay STALKER now that I have the hardware to play in Triplehead at max video options.

Unfortunately.... I am getting a very distracting video problem at the edge of the screens. It appears to be related to shadow rendering which causes odd distortions and/or shadow flickering at the peripheral view.

I've upload an example to YouTube as well as a higher res version to MediaFire (6.6meg).

Anyone else have this problem?

Running 9800GTX SLI with 174.74 drivers....

(Since this is a year-old, well-documented SG issue, why not add it to the Wiki page ??)

Yup. That was it.

I'm totally bummed out though. I think the game looks fantastic with fully rendered lighting and it really loses something dialing it down to only Object Lighting.

Damn, I know there is a fix for this but I played to completion when it first came out and have forgotten the line in the ini file. It definately had something to do with the 'sun' ini entries.... where was the damn thing?...

If someone can summarize the issue (and hopefully the solution), I'll add it to the Wiki page.

Good news! Glad to hear that there might be a solution to this...

I've searched all over Google but can't find any mention of this tweak/problem.

Hopefully you'll locate your old notes on the subject.... :D

Screw Gloogloo, tweakguides.com is your friend. There's a link there to the Float32 mod and an interesting article:
Taken from http://www.thefloatingpoint.org/main/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.5

Fixing shadow shearing effect caused in 1.0003

It turns out, that making this rather annoying bug go away is simple. With the introduction of patch 1.0003, POV has changed, thus it rendered the shadow clipping bugged as all of you know. Well, there is a quick and easy fix which i will detail below!

Steps...

1) Go to the directory containing your savegame folder and screenshots.

2)There, you will see a file named "user.ltx".

3) open this in notepad NOT wordpad.

4) scroll until you see a line that says "r2_sun_near_border 0.75".

5) Change the "0.75" to a "1"

6) Enjoy!
I can't find my OEM copy of the game, so please give it a go, and if it works take screenies, summarize the problem for Ibrin & the Wiki, and thank jjwalker ! :)

Tweak Guides says the game is now patched to v1.0006. Any idea if this was corrected? I have updated the Wiki page.
