Hello, I wonder if people here have played Sins of a Solar Empire yet? It's an RTS4X and I highly recommend it to anyone who either likes spacey RTS games or 4X games. I wanted to bring up TripleHead2Go support for this game. Basically, the resolution 3840x1024 is selectable from the get-go (as is all GfW games), except that the FOV actually gets calculated properly, so the camera is perfect and doesn't appear to be zoomed in more than normal, nor are the graphics too blurry as happens in some unsupported games (because it thinks they are "zoomed in"). Here are some screenshots that I quickly took that will demonstrate how well it is currently supported:
In fact, I would say there are only 1 place that is problematic, the mouse hover-popup when accessing the research/diplomacy/trading screen.
I added the pink lines for where the monitors are separated, and here's another picture with bezels to demonstrate the problem for those who aren't using TH2GO atm.
That is a huge problem there since it makes it hard to read what the research area is (at least until you memorize what everything does). Also the upper-left UI element listing all your assets is too far away to look at all the time, and there is an upper right UI element that appears when hovering over UI units that is also a bit far away:
Clearly the solution should be to move the research popup element to the right, like thus:
Also the corner UI elements can be moved closer to the middle monitor, like this:
---------------------- These essentially two changes should be trivial for the Ironclad devs to do, since I'm sure they only have to change a few attributes somewhere like the X,Y positioning (at least in my experience with GUI development). I submitted a "bug report" to one of the developers at Ironclad Games, unfortunately it was essentially ignored since nobody else using TripleHead2Go seems to have submitted a similar bug report, but more importantly Ironclad does not have a TripleHead2Go device!. If anyone at Matrox is reading this, Sins of a Solar Empire sold more than a 100,000 copies in the first 2 weeks and topped the sales charts beating out games like CoD4 for those weeks. This puts it in a similar situation as World in Conflict, which Matrox is featuring as a supported TH2GO game. Please, can we go about sending Ironclad Games a free TripleHead2Go device? Maybe once they play with it for a few minutes they will realize how awesome it is and take the few minutes to modify the UI to make this a 100% compatible game. Meanwhile, Matrox can feature this new game and drive more TripleHead2Go sales. |

Ironclad rocks. This game works perfectly with TH. I'm not stressing about some pop-up menus. Rather they balance gameplay elements than this. |
