rFactor is definitely the most versatile racing simulator out there right now. Out of the "box" (it uses download distribution) it is rather underwhelming. However, the platform it provides is of an extremely customizable and open nature. Thus, the mods for rFactor number in the hundreds, and nearly all of them are good. Many of them are very good, and there are a few that will completely blow you away. There are mods from everything as small as Karts and lawn mowers, through to small rally cars and off-road trucks, on to GT-style saloon cars, and all the way to modern (and historical) Formula 1 vehicles. Modded tracks are also numerous, and can support full 24-hour time cycles for endurance racing and spectacular lighting effects. rFactor's online code is fantastic.

rFactor supports dual- and triple-screen resolutions.

If you get rFactor, you will also want to visit http://www.rfactorcentral.com.
