Wow, this is most excellent news and I'll be checking it out the next time I fire up Doom 3. Great work; everything looks so much better.

Do you have a TH2G ?
If so ... put it in your system specs ... :D

BTW ... regarding your system specs ...

From the Profile page ...
System Specs:
Use this block of text to display your system specs. There is a 512 character limit. Please no images.

Please keep the text (colored text is fine) between sizes 9 and 11 (using BB Code). Run your specs horizontally (rather than vertically), and limit to four lines at normal forum width.

Please could you change it ....

Thank you .... 8)

First I'd like to say thanks to Paddy the Wak for his work - I've just got the TH2G box, and I was starting to think it was a bit of a waste until I found that, as usual, it was the helpful hackers out there that were really making full use of a piece of kit

I still had a few niggles while I was setting some of these things up, so I thought I would post a few clarifications for other newbies :

1.) The Doom3 fix does NOT work if you have installed Doom3:Resurrection of Evil. But DOES need the Doom3 v1.3 Patch to be installed.
So if you want to play Doom3 with the above fix, patch it to 1.3 and do NOT install Doom3:RoE. (If you have already installed RoE, then you may need to un-install both and re-install Doom3 from the beginning and re-patch to 1.3)
Otherwise, you will get "Incorrect DLL" crashes when you try to use the above fixed .dll
When you have finished with the original, you can install Doom3:RoE and update with the Doom3 RoE fix above... :)

2.) Just for 'extra' clarity, to fix the Patched Quake4 game, you need to un-pack the "game000.rar" file and use the gamex86.dll instead of the original in the 'q4base' folder. And then you rename/move the "game000.pk4" file in the same folder to something/somewhere else; And then move the "game000.rar" in to this folder and rename it to "game000.pk4" to replace the original.
I just thought I needed to clarify, as at first, I was looking for a file called "game000.pk4" WITHIN the "game000.rar" archive...if you know what I mean :P

Finally, I have a newbie question connected to fixing the Aspect Ratio in the config files.
Now, I managed to understand from one of the comments above that you need to open the .cfg file and change the field "r_aspectRatio" to equal "1", and this was equivalent to making the aspect ratio 16:9
My question is, how is a newbie like me supposed to know that "1" = Aspect Ratio of "16:9" ? Was I supposed to do this from within the SGU ? Or was I correct to manually open the game .cfg files in a text editor and do it completely manually myself ?
I can't find any documentation telling the user how to set the aspect ratio, or what values = what ratios.
Did I miss an important faq somewhere ?
I don't mind if you reply rtfm....just tell me where the 'fm' is

Hey, i have a TripleHead2Go and i sucessfully hacked Bloodlines to get the 3840x1024 resolution, and i entered the correct FOV in the console (which should be 133 according to the FOVcalc when the default FOV is 75) , but then i'm experiencing the same weird stretched image that Doom 3 and Prey had before i applied the patched dll this thread is about. Now, i'm very curious what you actually did in the gamex86.dll that fixed this?

Wow! How did you hack Bloodlines? I'd love to know as I've just re-installed...

I used a guide (http://www.forumplanet.com/planetvampire/topic.asp?fid=9656&tid=1735448&p=1) to edit a little value in the engine.dll file.

I'm hoping it's as easy to edit another value that will fix the aspect ratio, but i don't know what to look for.

I know this isn't a bloodlines thread, but the issue looks similar.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I'm new to surround gaming and recently went back to Doom 3 now that I've got a TH2GO. :D

I can't get this game to look right at all. What have I done wrong?

This is what I've done so far:

1. Run Doom3 @ 1280x1024
2. Apply Patch 1.3
3. Run Doom3 @1280x1024
4. Run Matrox SGU for Doom3
5. Run Doom3 @3840x1024
6. Copy new version of gamex86.dll to ..Doom 3base
7. Run Doom3 @3840x1024 - but aspect ratio is still distorted just as it was at step 5.

I note that Paddy's original instructions said to correct aspect ratio to 16:9.

Er, how do I do that? I can't see that in the cfg file at all.

I have the following lines in my cfg file:

seta r_aspectRatio "1"
seta r_customHeight "1024"
seta r_customWidth "3840"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_mode "-1"

Have I missed something?

I really hope someone can help. Running Doom3 at 1280x1024 seems like sacralege when you've got a TH2GO!

Thanks.

Regards,

Mr Pibb.

Hello ... welcome to the WSGF ... 8)

r_aspectRatio.... 0, 1, or 2 (4:3, 16:9, 16:10)

So in the DoomConfig.cfg change the line ... seta r_aspectRatio "0" ... to read ... seta r_aspectRatio "1"

If it isn't there add it in ... but it should have been added with patch 1.1

Hope that helps ... :D

Thanks Paddy, and thanks for the warm welcome! :D

I have already got ... seta r_aspectRatio "1" ... set to "1" as I mentioned in my post. So sadly that's not it.

Regards,

Mr Pibb.
