I got a pair of 7800 GTX's in SLI that I watercool. My current plan is to wait for the next gen of Nvidia card before upgrading as a pair of 8800's with waterblocks ain't cheap.

I've only found one review that compared a single 8800 to a pair of 7800's and there was no huge increase.

Anyone have any personal experience in this area?

I had 7800GTX 256 MB SLI with TH2go and at 3840 the ram was often so full that I got a nice frame increase with a 7900GX2 512MB (but its ram is to little anyway for modern games (R6 Vegas) at 3840).

But i suggest you wait for the refresh and get yourself a 8800gtx or its succesor!

Still no hope for the 1900XTX's? That is the only thing that has held me back from buying the triple head.

Sad to say, but I don't think it will change anytime soon, since they (ATI) are most likely focused 100% on 2xxx HD series. It's looks to be a Windows driver issue since the x1600 works like a charm at 3840x1024 on an iMac 20" in Mac OS X. Something that can't be done on Windows(caped at 2400x600)
